strange. i could have sworn i just posted this. Maybe i didn't bother adding it after preview?
In any case, i've had a couple of amusing captions on this on my flickr, and despite the poor quality of the capture, i'm compelled to post it here for your perusal.
Hey Oldhat and FC, great photos. I love the David Newland one.
Bit of a splurge here as I've never posted any photography... anywhere. Just loaded a whole batch to flickr. But this is my photo thread cherry pop I suppose!
I discovered today that a camera I sometimes borrow lets you manually change the exposure time and aperture size. So I went out to play with the settings.
@FC I love your concert photography. Are you usually close to the stage? I have never been able to get a shot that clear and that focused of a performer in action under concert stage lighting conditions.
@oddbill: Yes, i try to get there as early as possible so i don't have to push through too many people, but if the show is pretty busy (as it was last night) or you are rather short (as I am) it can be a tad difficult. It also helps to have a steady hand, use as high an ISO as you can bear, as well as a lens that will allow for a fairly low aperture. I've experimented now and then with flash, but by and large my better concert photos use available light only.
I decided to brave the cold and go for a photo walk yesterday afternoon, I recently bought a fish eye attachment for my lens. After I got home I played around with Photoshop a bit. I thought the pop art cows were fun.
@Fat Mike - the only time I've ever been to Rome it was late spring, so whenever I think of it the images are always warm. It's like confronting a bizzaro world to see a frozen fountain like that!
