    Or SPIT, as Zo calls it.

    We're going to launch one of these threads a month. And down the months and years, we'll build up not only a mugshot parade of visitors to Whitechapel -- but also, for those who choose to participate monthly, there'll be a record of how we all change and grow (and in my case age horribly).

    Obviously, I encourage participation from everyone, even if you're just joining the place. This thread is certainly NOT just for the old lags. In fact, the more new faces the better.

    So. Take a photo of yourself and post it (if you're not sure how -- you put a photo on the web somewhere, a free hosting site like Flickr or Photobucket or your LJ gallery if you use LJ -- Blogger image hosting won't work -- and click the "img" button above to put the address of the image in, the http://) here.

    I'll get to mine once I'm, you know... piss off, I'm busy...

    (Those of you doing 365 projects at Flickr obviously have a head start...!)

    Fell backwards off a ladder at work yesterday. I feel slightly badass for not getting hurt more than I did.

    @brittanica Those specs look make you look kinda more badass too. Very glad you didn't get hurt worse.

    Happy New Year!

    So for this month I've decided to do an experiment by trying Veganism out. I was referred by my vegan friend to the Post Punk Kitchen, which is where I came across a sexy-looking book which JUST happened to be on sale at my local book store!

    After looking through it in the store, it's pretty clear that I'll be using this book long after the month experiment is over.

    EDIT TO ADD: My first recipe from the book turned out very well.

    @oldhat don't do it - the sheer amount of stuff that contains egg and dairy just for binding agents/as part of the veggie options makes it a pure logistical headache. You'll be immensely cranky before the week is up, never mind the month.

    THINK OF YOUR TASTEBUDS. (also your intestines: our appendix went vestigial a very long time ago for a reason.)

    It's much easier to stay vegan when you're cooking all your food yourself. Soy or almond milk (almond is my preference) work just as well as regular milk, and tapioca starch is a perfectly acceptable substitute for egg as a binding agent. Somebody should start the Early 2011 Food and Cooking Thread for further discussion.

    @DavidLejeune - you should start it!

    I will participate if you do, and I'll bet oldhat and others will as well.

    Edited to add: Also shooting for a 365 over on flickr this year. This is day two:

    I woke up to a half disassembled apartment, as I start to tear down for the move. This always stresses me out, even though I've moved so many times by now. Just having my stuff all strewn around makes me feel surrounded somehow.

    Most of it is going to be got rid of. Maybe it knows that. Maybe that's why it all feels so malevolent...

    Nothing wrong with eating healthier ... but we're omnivores for a reason.

    @burntcopper Bah.
    @David LeJune I agree!
    @oddbill I may be that person...tomorrow. Too tired to start something.

    My eyebrows, they need waxing.
