Not easy at all, however, though it is relatively short once all the players learn to play. Each player builds a farm in 17th century Europe. That's right. A farm. With sheep and stuff.

Illuminati is a ridiculously fun card game if you can get a hold of a copy. It's actually written in the rules that cheating is allowed, which amuses me.

Carcassone and Catan are both great as well, as others have mentioned. I don't care for Arkham Horror myself, but that's only because it takes too damn long to set up and break down. If you have somewhere where you can just leave it out for a couple weeks while you and your gaming friends are really into it, you'll probably love it to death.

Everyone gets dealt a set of story elements and an ending, and the first person to go has to weave their elements into a story, playing each one as it's included in the story, with the goal of working towards and playing their specific ending. Other players have to interrupt and steal the story by playing their own cards when they're mentioned, and then work towards their own ending whilst keeping the story continuity from the last player's story going.
Simple to learn, but the play variations are endless. It's literally as fun as you are imaginative.

Personally, I love chess. I'm not really good at it at this point, but it's without a doubt a great game.

Love Arkham Horror. The roommates and I usually give that a go once a month. Amazing game, but as stated, there is a nice set up time to it. Worth it if you have the time.

A great strategy game is Game Of Thrones. Very very complex, but worth a game or two every so often. If you like Risk or Axis and Allies you will enjoy this.

For the chance to dick each other over, We also play Munchkin, the Board Game. The cool thing about that game is you build the board as you go. The dungeons are all luck of the draw as are the monsters. And best of all, you're all trying to kill each other. Order of The Sticks also fits into this niche.

Finally, Trivial Pursuit. But only if you don't have a clue about the game. The only thing more fun than playing it well is not playing it well. Much more entertaining.

JP
