James Blake's debut album is a little too far removed from the dancefloor for my tastes. Bit disappointing, really.

On a Night Slugs trip. Their Allstars Vol. 1 compilation is terrific. Loving the Jacques Greene track particularly.

Enjoying all immensely. Particularly the Zola Jesus and Twin Shadows. Zola Jesus is a new music crush I think. Trust Me is my song. It's got that epic 80s night drive type music vibe. With Twin Shadows the jams are Slow and Forget.

The Matthew Dear Black City album is kind of black mud sex feel. Like how Nick Cave makes me feel, all the while pounding through sounding like sort of Nine Inch Nails funk/disco sound.

Meanwhile Anika scratches my Nico itch a little bit, and the Forest Swords give me something to listen to between Burial and James Blake songs.

If you like dark, ambient, psych, blah blah! Just found this. So many mixes!!! It's gonna keep me busy for a while. Really awesome. But, uhh, is it possible(and if so easy) to put all the tracks into metadata of the mp3? I'm never going to remeber what these are a week from now.

The backend for a lot of the mixes is from http://robotdj.net/ Never heard of it, but wow. I downloaded a random mix and it's good too. Problem is, the site doesn't link back to the creator, so no track list, no checking out the mix creators website. :( Maybe that's intentional?

@texture I am quite enjoying the mixtape I have got but perhaps because it resonates with some of the stuff I am experiencing right now.
Heartless is an excellent piece of music imo and I like Swagger Like Us,Astronautilus has a nice flow.
This is the first Sole stuff I have checked since anticon so I dont really have enough material to judge,although in general it seems less self obsessed/introverted but more political,he seems to rhyme more of his lines now too.

Currently listening to the new Social Distortion album. The band has long since become something far afield of punk, but this new album is growing on me (like the last one did, and the one before that, and...) Mike Ness certainly wears his influences on his sleeve. The best song on the album is probably the cover of Hank Sr's "Alone & Forsaken."

Listening to Matthew Dear - Black City,he is playing at Bloc along with like 20+ other acts I badly want to see and know I won't get to due to clashes.
The problem with having everything you want in one place.

I've been listening to Animals as Masters, whom I discovered while browsing the Internet looking for good things to listen to. I think it might have been Whitechapel, actually. If so, thank you to whoever posted the YouTube video I saw, 'cause it was awesome.

Also been getting into Om and Big Business, a little. Don't own anything by either one yet, though.

And Daft Punk.

the new British Sea Power (not bad, if a bit too Hold-Steady-ish for me), the new Mogwai (friggin' atrocious), and lots of Bardo Pond. and this Phantogram song, "Futuristic Casket," over and over again. also i've been singing songs from Entrance's The Kingdom of Heaven Must Be Taken By Storm, but that's hardly news.

@allana, the new Mogwai is "friggin' atrocious"? How so? I was considering getting it until now. I wasn't very impressed with Hawk Is Howling, just seemed like they were just slogging through the same old shit with absolutely no passion. It's a shame because I thought Mr Beast was bloody wonderful.

@keyofsilence, i mostly miss their "Waltz for Aidan" and "Superheroes of BMX" days, so i'm maybe not the most reliable of sources. but i think they sound like a middle-schooler garage band now.

I'm not sure whether I would call this "listening" or "watching," but I find the video and the entire concept of Jessie J's "Do it Like a Dude" fascinating on a sociological level.

I guarantee there are a billion men who see this, think "sexy", and move on, but there's so much more to this than I can fully articulate, especially in light of the recent Whitechapel discussion about gender roles.

I look at/listen to this and I can't decide if it's freudian, empowering, demeaning, or a special blend.

Do it like a dude?
