Instagram is a social mobile photoblogging app for iOS. (There's talk of porting it to other services, but right now it's iOS only.) It comes with a handful of basic processing filters, a simple way to make iPhone photos look better.

It's actually kind of fun. I have just a few friends and acquaintances added to mine, like Katie West, Brian Wood and the comics artist Jock, and I get pretty pictures a few times a day.

The problem for me is I have a Touch and I pretty much live in a wi-fi dry environment, so it's easier to just use the camera app and upload the photos to my computer later.

Is it ALWAYS supposed to look like that though? Like some sort of instant easy-cut Photoshop version of making a photo look "old"? How is it different from say, somehow slaving Twitpic to Tumblr, or mobile blogging off your smartphone? I can take pictures with my BlackBerry and then post them to to Wordpress off my phone, and Wpress is set to feed to my Tumblr feed.
