I vividly remember watching this demented, dreamlike, confused and confusing BBC TV production with my dad, and afterwards looking at each other and saying "...what the hell WAS that?" I commend it to your attention on a quiet Sunday night. Click through for the other parts, if you can stand it.

Blimey. Not thought about that show since... well. probably since '81. Good find.

Some odd telly round then. Things like The One Game and (a bit earlier) Gangsters. Great fun for teens (the combo of mindfucking and full frontal never goes amiss).

Wow, awesome cast. I'm definitely watching this tonight.

This is excellent. As soon as I saw Sting was in it I knew it would be... well, something anyway. I think more stories should involve journeys by ferry, and I can't believe that the whole thing wasn't a massive influence on the Garth Marenghi guys.

yeah i first became aware of Artemis '81 a few years ago thanks to a friend (alas i was only 5 years old when it first came out). I've since managed to acquire a decent digital copy of it. It's just one of those types of programmes that the BBC occasionally used to make where people would genuinely puzzle their heads going "huh?", but were aware that there was a fair amount of substance to the writing and acting so would often persevere with it. I've watched it about 5 times now and if it weren't for the synopsis, then i seriously still would be unsure of what was happening...
