Boomkat's album of the week is entitled 'Arthur Lipsett - Soundtracks'. My first impression was "Who?" The associated schpiel mentions that Lucas referenced his work a lot in Star Wars, American Graffiti and THX1138. Digging a bit deeper, it turns out that Lipsett was much praised for his short films by the likes of Stanley Kubrick and his contemporaries even though his films were only visual adjuncts to his sound editing work. Sadly, his mental health declined and he committed suicide in 1986. Aside from the suicide, his story seems to have parallels with Syd Barratt.

There's no real conversation here but I thought anyone interested in film might be interested in reading about him as I was today.
