I am living in Montreal so I am extremely lucky and saw them live twice, which was quite the experience. I can't find a link right now but there is this other band call fly pan am which sounds a bit like Godspeed which you might enjoy. I will try to find a link later today.
Crap. At least we've still got A Silver Mt. Zion... (name extending with every release?) And there's at least one unreleased track in the live music archive.
This is NOT true. Apparently dude's words were misquoted. That was just an excerpt of the interview. Read about it in www.pitchforkmedia.com ,news section.
stubborntiny lights vs. clustering darkness forever
Edit: oh shit scratchbomber is right: http://www.pitchforkmedia.com/article/news/48600-godspeed-still-on-hiatus-not-completely-broken-up
That'll teach us to believe anything the NME says. Stupid NME.

I was hoping that they had one more good album in them after being disappointed with Yanqui UXO but alas it is not to be. To be fair they are, as one of them says, 'inappropriate', or rather, irrelevant now that there are so many bands either copying what they have done or taking a heavy influence and developing it in multiple directions.
And we still have Silver Mt Zion, who I think I actually prefer these days.
Permanent hiatus, I completely fucking missed that, that's a good oxymoron.
Dracko;
www.archive.org is this website with lots of amazing public domain films,sound,etc. In their audio section(subsection: live music archive), they have around 30-40 complete live shows ranging from decent to holy fucking shit in various formats(mp3, shorten, flac, ogg vorbis). The show dated 5/14/03 has both Gamelan and Albanian. I think that is the only recording of Gamelan on there, they apparently only played it a few times on their last European tour in '03. Albanian is on a bunch of recordings from '03, both US and Europe. Albanian is what's playing on that youtube clip above, it's longer than the youtube clip though. The only thing that sucks is converting shorten files and flac into listenable files(go to etree.org for that, read help section). A lot of shows are both mp3/shorten or mp3/flac so it's cool. Enjoy!!!
Is it possible to change the title of a thread? People seem to be reading the first post and not the stuff underneath saying it's not true, thought changing the title might clear it up...
