Can somebody please tell me why the hell I am so addicted to this band of late? I was a little late ever really listening to this band. I'd heard them some times before over the years, a song here and there on tv. Even checked out their first release, and second a year or so ago and it did not click. Not even a little. But over the last year or so I'd listen to one of their releases every few months, if that. And now for some odd reason the last two weeks I can't get enough. I can't...stop...listening...fuck! Every damn day and I can't get this shit out of my head. What the hell have I done to my self, lol.

Okay sorry, anyone else share this infatuation or even similar to something currently? I'm talking borderline mentally unhealthy.

I go through that with bands and tv shows all the time. I find something that hit for that moment and it's on loop for days, weeks on end. I had Killers phase a few years ago. Mostly just Hot Fuzz on loop. Oddly it was around the time Sam's Town came out.

Oct, Nov & Dec. of 2010 were 30 Rock months. I watched all four seasons on Netflix about 5 times all the way through. I'm on my 3rd go round of Psych seasons 1-4.

It's a sickness, but it helps me get work done.

A long time ago I just accepted that this sort of thing was just what I needed to do in order to work through a project or phase of life.

3rd Eye Blind is about my most shameful, I'd say. I spent a good 3 months of 2009 with their discography on loop. It worked. Got through the personal shit, the work shit and came out okay.

"Okay" being relative, of course. :)

Normally I have no time for the vapid, distasteful sort of commercial hip-hop. (That is to say, there is lots of hip-hop that I like a lot, just not usually the kind that consists exclusively of bragging about womanizing and making money.) But then I heard "Hot Toddy" by Jay-Z and Usher. Hated it at first ... then I started thinking, hang on a second...

It really humbled my inner snob that no matter how hard I tried to erase this song with old post-punk and new metal (no, not nu-metal), I could NOT get that beat and chorus out of my head. I actually grew to like it. I'd start humming "Surfin' Bird" to myself, picturing Peter Griffin from Family Guy, and that'd clear my brain for a few minutes ... but the song always came back. I don't know when or how it dissipated. Even today I hear it sometimes, whether or not it's actually on -- I'll be in the park, or wherever, and hear the simple, distinctive bass and snap to attention. I want to hate it but ARGH now I have to go listen to it again.

Edited to fix typo.
