I have been working on a personal project since 2006 and I am finally beginning the final scene. Just a few pages to go. I am never doing another fully painted coloured story again - the story is only 45 pages long so far! I am so very slow.

I'm trying to come to grips with the fact that I can actually make reasonable conclusions about science now, and that when the paper from 2000 seems to be wrong about its mouse sequence, it's because it actually IS wrong and I've spotted something to be figured out.

I seem to be getting the first feelings of consumption as well, so I hope it's not too bad when you get full in. Here's to a speedy recovery.

More seriously, it was four freaking degrees below zero this morning. That's -4 degrees Foreignheat, BTW. For you folks on the right hand side of the pond it would be -20 Celsius. Where the hell is global warming when you need it?

Oh, and yesterday I got a note about how they're re-jiggering the retirement rules at work. End result is that on Dec 31 2013 I'm three months from vesting in the retirement plan. But on Jan 1 2014 I'm three years and nine months from vesting. Goddamn it, if I'd known that two years ago I'd have taken that out-of-state job offer.

FYI, "vesting" doesn't mean you can retire. It means that you meet all the requirements to receive retirement benefits once you're old enough to retire. And once you're vested, you don't have to stay in the job to get the benefits - you can go get a job elsewhere, and when you retire, you get the bennies.

Did you know that -40 degrees is the same temperature in Celsius and Farenheit? Mad music week. Haven't really written any new songs in months... finally polished off one that's been sitting forever a couple weeks ago, and that apparently started the boulder rolling. Two new ones started and finished since Friday, a few pre-existing blurbs turned into in-progress new songs. Also, first practice since October for a cover band I play with. Also writing a second silly YouTube jingle for a friend. Also, apparently, the first jingle-thing I did for him (which was my first ever commissioned composition) has started generating interest from other people wanting music for things. Which is cool, but also somewhat baffling.

Tonight we cook a chicken. Me? Getting ready to move in a day. Not much to move, most of my shit is in storage in KC. Just clothes, toiletries, computer, and a handful of art supplies. Better option for everyone involved-- half the rent (versus the weekly extortion that I've been getting from the former roommate of my soon-to-be former roommate), social outlet for new roommate, less stress on old roommate, etc. Amusingly, it will probably take me longer to get from here to the new place-- which is 15 minutes away-- than it will to get everything ready to go aside from my computer.
