Since the TRANSMET Dr Sketchy's is coming up, I thought I'd open a new thread. Throw details of new Dr Sketchy's nights here, post up your own Dr Sketchy's art, make plans, whatever. Am emailing this link to Molly.

If you don't know what Dr Sketchy's Anti-Art School is, click here. There could well be one near you. There are branches in over 100 cities in 16 countries over five continents.

. Third Sunday of every month 7-10pm. Come out and draw our local burlesque beauties, fire dancers, aerialists and other assorted guest weirdos. Contests! Prizes! Performances! Booze! You don't have to draw well (I certainly don't), just enthusiastically.

    Be seeing you!

I'm a little depressed the local contingent in Toronto has decided to discontinue their sessions.

I want this. I want this so much. For a long time now.

Might even be willing to organize a Dr. Sketchy's Oslo branch myself. Would have to get a core together, contact the organizations I know have money, contacts and costumes in storage... could be done, but I have other stuff - getting a role playing salon running in april, editing a fanzine and part of edit group on what may become a proper mag, and a diffuse pool of stuff I want to do. And I'm not good at the whole initiative thing. I tend to hang on to other people's cool projects and do as I'm told.

But dammit, if any norwegians on here wants to be the engine, I'll throw in any spare fuel I can find. Even if you are in bergen or trondheim or some other godsforsaken mountain valley and I can't attend myself.

I've been a big fan of Dr. Sketchy's for some time now. You can check out some of the drawings I've done at some of the Boston and Portland, ME events at my blog.

One of these days, I gotta make it down to the New York edition.

@CapnMarrrrk I just have to tell you that I (heart) that there is Dr. Sketchy's in my semi-hometown. That and that there are enough local burlesque beauties, fire dancers, aerialists and assorted guest weirdos to sustain the Dr. Sketchy's. If I'm ever back at the right time, I'll be sure to stop by.

In the meantime, I'm going to do my best to make it to the NYC tribute session (Feb. 27!)

Sadly, our local organizers just retired so Toronto is without the Dr Sketchy's experience for the time being.

I am not an artist, and am only really at home behind the camera. but I gave my local Dr. Sketchy's a go this week and had a great time, irrespective of my (lack of) artistic ability...

So for the NYC Dr. Sketchy's, we've just been given a fantastic opportunity from the people behind the Transmet art book:

The best three images of the night, as so judged by your Sketchy team of rockstars, will be given the opportunity to be printed in the Transmetropolitan Art Book. Once chosen, you will have until midnight on the following day (Monday the 28th) to refine, perfect and scan your image to be emailed to our art director for inclusion in the book.

We'll have more information at the session and a ton of really great prizes! It runs from 4-6:45pm and you can buy tickets in advance at http://www.drsketchy.com/branch/newyork

We're so excited for the session! I'll see all you locals there tomorrow.

@lance sells, it is great to see the insidious noneuclidity of your pencil once again!
  6.  (9540.17)
Thanks oddbill. Now I will go look up what noneuclidity means.

...no more sketches from the Transmet night?
  8.  (9540.19)
By the way, the models for Spider and Channon were able to channel the drawings in a freakishly amazing way. Faces, expressions, body posture were straight out of the book.
