    I decided to keep the retro-dress-uniform look to an extent. The issue title is the first thing that popped into my head on seeing her.

    I stuck with the classic green skin, although with pink multiracial highlights.  I almost pierced the antennae!

    @Ed - Wow. Lovely work. It's like Gustav Klimt and Frank Frazetta having an art love child.

    @356--from childhood memories of reading about Percival Lowell
    @Paul Sizer--can't get over those antennae piercings
    @sebfowler--and are those moth antennae on your magician?

    Thanks guys. Putting more expression and meaning into the illustration is what I'm reaching for and things are improving with practice. For 'speed painting' you start by messing up any old holiday photos you have, and then you have to rely on the characters appearing out of the chaos. The technique is fast - so its a good way to quickly concept characters, but its also a bit of a crutch to rely on the sourced photography. But its exciting, because you never know what you're gonna get.

    Lots of great entries on this one, unless it runs through the weekend I may not have time to finish. @Ed Sludden wonderful illustration, @Jim I like the color pallet and the smokey head. @Sizer antennae piercing makes my teeth hurt when I think about it.

    I can't believe I uncovered a new fetish: antenna piercing. Looks like 4CHAN will need a new category section...

    @DBed that is really cool.

    Didn't think I was going to make this one, but lucky for me I had a deadline pushed back. I was thinking with those superpowers she would be less superhero and more of an easily bored, impish character. After the southwestern states were deeded back to Mexico to be New New Mexico, old Las Vegas was rebuilt and became Nuevo Las Vegas, the hotspot of the solar system. Where better for a Magician to live than Vegas baby!

    Haven't done a remake/remodel piece in ages.. but I'm kinda happy with this.
