I am tremendously intrigued by The Thing Next Week.

In the meantime, wow, lot of variety here:

From Apathy and oogliemooglie's fun punky attitudes to Al Baroza's grim atmosphere to dronecraft's picture that won't show :( to Alan Tyson's elegant line work to richard basey's cool pose to pathos's creepy concept to MJBoyson's gorgeous colours to Lordofthejungle's great costume design to mercurialblonde's punky topicality to Neil's scary-powerful illustration to Paul's strong detailed design to sebfowler's surreal details to mojokingbee's inspired colour effects to 256's stark boldness to jim's classic alienness made playful to Ed's atmospheric storytelling to kmcleod's elegant simplicity to pjtaylor's cute-as-a-button CG cartooning to -3-'s beautiful colour to DBed's striking design and cartooning to FredG's bright clean character work to ScottS's costuming and shading to Andre's bright colour yet bleak mood...

to Pia's moody rich use of black and white to Miranda's wild characterisation to Sobreiro's surreal classicism to hambot's lightly touched-in characters to Brian and Berserker's pop-art brightness to Clone's sense of fun to CinnamonAndSpite's colourful painterly action to Jamie's reality-ripping idea to Hussein's vivid contrast to Rootfireember's deft portraiture to robb's inventive inclusion (exclusion?) of the character name in the design...

Great work all around, well done everyone! My favourites are:
@AL Baroza- Creepy and cool at the same time.
@NeilFord- Those textures and colours are amazing.
@Paul Sizer- "Half breed hottie", I love it.
    @Ed Sludden- Beautiful work.
@DBed- Once again, you've produced my favourite.
@Pia Guerra- That's just plain awesome!

    The Magician from Mars
Guest-starring fellow Martian Rex Dexter; a bigger version is available here.

Astounding works this week; kudos, among others, to Neil Ford, Paul Sizer, DBed and Pia Guerra. My favorite entry is the one from Richard Basey. I would've picked up anything with that character, and I'm saddened by the fact that she does not exist outside of this thread.

Dorkmuffin - Thank you. I did the linework in Manga Studio "No Eyedropper Tool Ha Ha Suck It" Debut, then painted over it on ArtRage. It's not as detailed as I want it, too blurry in places and the colors of the character don't fit so well with the environment, but considering the typically disastrous results of any of my attempts at coloring, this one came out better than I'd hoped. I'll keep practicing.

You're all doing amazing work. Pia's entry is especially beautiful, and absolutely nails the mood of loneliness I tried to convey with mine.

Andre, Pia, Miranda: Glad to see you all show up with such great and diverse entries. And Pia, the look in her eyes just slays me. You are the goods!

Awesome thread! If I wasn't so far away from my studio right now, I'd love to play.
Really dig yours Andre- such a different look to your work. I like it!
    Very intense piece Miranda- killer!

The name was a bit Robotic, and the escapee magician from a prison made me think of a Houdini fan. So there you go:

I had a feeling this one was going to start off slow, and really be booming by the weekend - and voila. Some of the entries this week have been stunning for any number of reasons, and some of those from new faces. I love this place for that alone.

I had an impossible time with this one myself, and finally threw my hands up in disgust when I saw what others had brought to the table this week and decided to fuck it and just go with whatever nonsense fell out of my pencil, and then try not to ruin that with all the stuff I did to those afterward. Anyway, this is what happened: I dunno, maybe supersteel is golden colored and usually molded into Space Kachina masks?

    marswitch

    Sure...that.

This is my take on the character:

This is actually 2 remake remodels in one, try and guess who is second reddesigned character. ;)

Amazing stuff from all corners this week. If this is the warm up, whatever it is that kicks off on the 28th is going to be stratospheric. I look forward to it.

Also, Oxbrow deserves some sort of award for taking the time to say something nice about everyone.
