    Couple of bands from Belfast (I live in and mostly write about bands from the city) that are/were worth a wee listen.

    The Killing spree were an experimental/hardcore act that lay-waste to the city a few years back. Magical.

    CURSED is alright but i prefer all of Chris Colohans other bands (LEFT FOR DEAD, SWARM, RUINATION). dude is a great vocalist/frontman

    yeah, i have seen elder 4 times.
    the first time i saw them i was STUNNED.
    i have a bunch of photos of them too.

    on punk, i forgot about this band when i was
    posting last week:


    three guys from the motorcity in '75. ('76?)
    i don't care from punk, but these guys rock.

    the story behind them is pretty great as well. everything out of print for like 24 years, and one of the original members sons heard them and had to ask his dad about it! now everything is back in print and they play shows (with one child replacing the member who passed away if i remember right)

    When I saw a recommendation for "Death" in a metal thread that wasn't what I was expecting. :-) I was pleasantly surprised with this other Death band. I've been running it in the background all day.

    Death is one of my boyfriend's favorites. He put that song on a mix for me a few years back and I did not stop spinning it for quite a while.

    Speaking of bands that fit in this thread that are also called Death, (@ralf.haring's comment about Death in a metal thread) here's metal band Death:


    The story behind this band is actually pretty tragic. The lead singer and guitarist Chuck Shuldiner is often referred to as the father of death metal (so says Wikipedia. Actual metal fans could probably back me up on this) and within the last decade he developed cancer and due to a whole host of things that went wrong with his health insurance, he ended up dying in 2001 at the age of 34.

    some of my favorite metal bands are: Nightwish, Kamelot, Northern Kings, Otep, Avenged Sevenfold, Symphony X, Avantasia, Theater of Tragedy, The Agonist and Theatres Des Vampires

    Those are primarily symphonic/power/beauty metal
    Northern kings is really interesting because they are actually 4 members of other successful Finnish metal who sing classic rock songs
