On a metal-related note, I was in B&Q the other day:

    Alan

In fact, Alan Titchmarsh a big fan of my comics it would seem! Needless to say, I'm flattered as can be.

Clutch. If you want angry, there's Pitchfork and Lost Needles, but if you want good, there's every other album they've done. A bit blues, a bit stoner metal, but entirely awesome.

Earthtone9 just released their first new track in 10 years, it's pretty awesome, and free to grab here:

Can't believe I completely missed this thread! Well, pretty much every band I wanted to pimp has already been mentioned, but there's a few notable exceptions:

Amen - One of my favourite bands ever & the best live band I've ever seen. Manic, manic energy
Scum - Casey from Amen + assorted members of Emperor, Turbonegro and Zyklon
Stampin' Ground - Another favourite band, highly, highly recommend Carved From Empty Words
Romeo Must Die - New project with the singer and drummer from Stampin' Ground,

    On the more Doomy side;

Daylight Dies - Lost to the Living is a masterpiece comparable only to My Dying Bride

new DESPISE YOU lp is out!

new DESPISE YOU sounds very little like the legendary old stuff!

its much cleaner and more metal. huge let down for me, but more metal leanin folk should probably check it out. its a split with AGORAPHOBIC NOSEBLEED, who turn in a decent side of the record.

For metal, and I'll be chastised about this but I listen to Dream Theater, Megadeth and Demon Hunter, with an occasional Merciful Fate.

the mighty VENOM P STINGER. Australian punk at it's finest (if you're me)

and this is pretty fine as well - more Surf Punk than street punk but these guys are from Sydney so what else would you expect?

and just for historical purposes - the nude-on-live-television-clip of LUBRICATED GOAT - which is pretty much hideous in truth but the song's great.

my favorite australian band is probably EXTORTION

    or AGENTS OF ABHORRENCE

(not a great song, but i couldnt find a recording that was decent on there.)

Time to throw in some more west coast peeps whom I've seen live recently. All stellar shows:

    The Dreadnoughts
    Cider punk from Vancouver

    The Invasives
    also from Vancouver

From Bellingham, Blackie and the Triumphs
    Pure drinking music

(Edit) Thought I'd add a local band that's been doing pretty well for themselves recently:

    Slam Dunk, from Victoria

Cardo, in fairness that song was pretty balls to begin with unfortunately. Still I'll always love them for eradicate the doubt.

Hands up who wants to die are one of the angriest bands I've heard in a while, mega.

@ebullientsoul - I love how they're all just standing there bored looking one second and then just kick it the fuck in with no warning. I'm looking these guys up right the fuck now. Thanks!

World Under Blood - metalcore, which I don't generally like, but worth it to hear Tim Yeung (Divine Heresy, believe he drummed for Nile for a bit) absolutely destroying it on drums

Speaking of Nile, here's "Lashed to the Slave Stick"

Aborym - weird as fuck industrial black metal

On the punk side of things...

Choking Victim - raw and angry, as punk was intended

Enemigos de la Clase - no idea about this band, found this one track as part of the "South America in Decline" compilation. Rather sweetly lo-fi.

VOID is, in my super informed and SEXY opinion, the best of the early 80s DC bands. everyone fawsn over MINOR THREAT, BAD BRAINS etc, but the VOID side of that split just smokes. they influenced all of the modern hardcore that i like...SEX/VID, VEINS, VILE GASH, NAZI DUST, WALLS, FAILURES even CEREMONY all spring from that lineage
