@hey apathy! - love the detail on the dragon. what device were you having trouble with? @richard pace - love the picture! cant wait to see the rest of your adaptation.
@Miranda - Thanks! It's actually just for a daily(ish) personal exercise. While other things may come out of it, and I may do other things as part of it, it's mainly something to try and increase daily productivity as well as broaden my skillset. I've only posted 3 thus far, but there are about 7 in various stages of completion that I'll get to finishing and posting eventually. Here's the initial bits of one I started last night, somewhere between 30-45 minutes into it (it's an instagram image via my phone, so colors and proportion are slightly skewed, & image is low quality):
@mojokingbee - Yeah, I'm slowly getting a bit more comfortable with that. Making them I've got down, but getting in the right mindset for utilizing them full-on is taking me some getting used to. Thank you for the compliment. :)
If you're enjoying the art here, go take a look at the Draw Each Other and the CHINESE WHISPERS UCHRONAL COVER REMODEL threads if you haven't already done so.
@ imaginarypeople- my camera, I can't get a good shot of my large works ( one was blurry the other was yellow?) @ seantaclaus- this ones looking even creepier
@Mojokingbee: Thanks! You've been posting such great art -- know that I've been enjoying every and last one of them.
@Seantaclaus: Yeah, I was going through your various web presences to try and find the other nines... This is a great project, I'll be happy to see them completed. The one you just posted looks quite promising.
@hey apathy! you should try taking the pictures outside in natural daylight if you haven't already. also the curves adjustment on photoshop helps with black and white illustrations.
I was in the mood for some "just for fun" drawing today, and thought I might try a different take on this week's Remake/Remodel characters. My pic on the Remake/Remodel thread was very quickly done and in a cartoony mode--I wondered what I might do with roughly the same character designs but in a more realistic comic style. Partly because I wanted to know if I could still draw in a more realistic style after months of more cartoony work.
The Fantastic Man-Scrotum is omitted here, because...he's a giant scrotum.
Turns out (and this is probably not a new discovery...) occasionally switching between cartoony/realistic comic work is beneficial to both.
i'm the last mother fucker to be showing my behind-the-scenes bullshit but here's how space shark looks before i run it through my computer machine for comicfication and then slapping it onto the intertubes
And here's the plain version of my FF remake/remodel ^___^
Perfect timing! Here's my fan-art for ROARGASM, attempting to channel the spirit of Jack Kirby's robot head: Because, God help us, Roargasm will now become part of the comics lexicon... Good work Chris!
Nice one, Paul! I think a couple of things happened in that Fantastic 4 R/R that will live on -- Roargasm, "...pure intellect wrapped in scrotum skin.", Sharkpony... It's been a great week :)
@Chris- Roargasm doesn't just need a fight with Space Shark, he pretty much demands his own book. Possibly with a Sizer cover of awesomeness.
And I definitely agree with folks in general- that R/R thread's generated some things that deserve an infamous life of their own, scrabbling away in people's hindbrains.
Speaking of scrabbling away, here's the phrase that's been bouncing through my skull every night for the last week while I've been working my ass off on getting a bunch of physical stuff ready for shows over the next month. Figured I'd take a break from the leatherworking and get it done up in digital as an attempt at exorcising it.
Well wouldn't you know I'd miss the FF thread by a matter of hours? Never mind, here's what I came up with anyways just as a regular piece of art instead...
I always say I can't draw even to save my life but to avoid falling asleep during a boring class, I did this. I surprised myself, it's better than I tought I could make.
There wasn't time to contribute to Project Rooftop’s Dwayne McDuffie tribute, but I wanted to pay a little homage to Milestone. Static, if he was a teen who got powers in 2011? All skinny jeans, New Era, and lumberjack plaid.
