You know when you get an idea and you just have to put pencil to paper? This was one of those.

Not much time spent on it but I had to do it just because.

I could go into the ideas behind it but I'm sure you get the gist. Reflections, Yin and Yang, good and bad, yada yada yada...

Doing a spot of non-abstracty illustration.
Whaddya think, fellas? Is there any chance in Heck I could one day get paid for this?
Or would I be better at heading in a more "artsy" direction?
(Because we all know there's already a ton of very skilled illustrators out there- yourselves included)
    Here's my unfit bike hipster.

a commissioned work of St. George vs the Dragon in progress. I don't do a lot of commssions but I thought it'd be fun to draw a dragon even though the tale is a crock ( no pun intended) of christian propaganda b.s. in which some jackass on horse back probably stabbed a sleeping crocodile with a ten foot spear so they spun him a saint. oh the peasant's feeble mind...

it's approx 3 feet x 4 feet done with ink on paper

@Sketchbrooke...not too shaby. His leg doesn't quite line up with his shorts but other than that, good-oh.
@hey apathy...nice, how big is this commish? Nice design of the dragon. Can you post the finish piece when you done?
  4.  (9595.166)
@mojokingbee Thanks. I tried to create that "too tight denim" effect on the leg which causes muffin-top-ness, but it looks like I've miscalculated a little.
@HEY APATHY! Dude. Just- duuuude. There's a lot of life in that inking. How did you go about doing the finer details in the torso and spikes?

I decided last month that for Comic Relief/Red Nose Day I'd ask people to donate a minimum of a fiver and then I'd draw them whatever they wanted (as long as it was legal). it's proven to be a really good thing actually since not only have I raised nearly £400 for a very deserving cause but it's forced me to draw subjects that I might not normally have approached. Nothing vastly unusual, but if nothing else it's shown me that my particular style is pretty versatile when it comes to different subjects. These aren't all the ones that i've done, but if you want to see the rest they're on my DA page.

    Galadriel
    Marvel Girl
    Willow and Death

@HEY APATHY! - I really like the way you're going with that sort of neo-tribal aspect with the dragon.

@Miranda - I always enjoy getting lost in the lines of your work, and the Astro Boy piece is certainly no exception.

Bot-A-Day 10. Thought I'd roll with something a bit darker and less cartoonish with this one:

Roughly 6hrs. Initial background done strictly w/custom brushes in Photoshop and a minor bit of layer/filter manipulation. Lines, colors, textures, highlights, shadow, & touch ups in ArtRage.

Great art reference: 100 Olympic athlete bodies, for comparison. ANYONE who draws the human form needs to check this out!

@ Mojokingbee - not too big $800 and it took 10 hours, the customer gets the original but at least I still own the rights to the image.
@ Sketchbrooke - I draw the whole thing quickly with brushes and then scratch the details in with a quil pen,
@ Seantaclaus - thanks I dig your creepy robot too!

    all done

posted it twice cause I didn't like either photo and couldn't decide which one was worse, can't figure this damn device out

@mojokingbee Thanking you kindly. :) I did a web search on how she'd been portrayed in the past and it was all rather... well, simple and pretty and a bit dull really, so I went all costume designer on her. It also gave me an excuse to use elements of art nouveau and the pre-Raphelites that have influenced me. More 'designer-y' that I might normally do, but fun for that.

Got a late start on this one, so I wanted to throw up something here, just in case I didn't finish it on time for the main thread!
