Right, as this seems to have gone from weekly to monthly, i've taken it upon myself to open a new listening thread for this month.

Whitechapelers, what are you listening to?

Me, I've been listening to some of the following....

put this on and fucking rocked my way through an evening of animation processing last night. I dig Kraftwerk but this is FREAKIN INDUSTRIAL (makes the land of rape and honey sound more like tea and sweetener):

right now i'm listening to old These Arms Are Snakes. This Is Meant To Hurt You, from 2003. i remember getting this EP when i was 16 and getting into a 19-plus show to see them perform it. it was their first tour and they literally only had these five songs to play, and it was soooo good.

New Dropkick Murphys is out today. The Celtic instrumentation is much more present this time out, taking them closer to Flogging Molly territory than most of their discography, but it's definitely a good, fun record.

    J Dilla - The Shining
    Flying Lotus - Cosmogramma
    Gonjasufi - A Sufi and A Killer
    Salem - King Night
    Sleigh Bells - Treats

I'm looting these free Helios/Goldmund remixes. The acoustic Boards of Canada ones are great.

Akira The Don's new (and free) mixtape/album came out tonight. Always thought of him as a UK hip hop head, but I can see he's more than that now. Like an English Cee Lo Green? I'm bad at putting music into words, but um, yeh, click linky

new TRAP THEM is only ok really. if you like mid tempo punk influenced metal that never truly gets FAST-fast you will probably be all over this. personally, i only like this style if its at grind speed. these guys do what they do well, unfortunately for me its not really a style im that excited by.

I've been listening to REM's new one COLLAPSE INTO NOW which is streaming over on the NPR site. You can check it out here. A great hybrid of ACCELERATE and AUTOMATIC FOR THE PEOPLE.

Also been listening to select tracks available online from Elbow's new release BUILD A ROCKET, BOYS! I'm really looking forward to getting this one next week.
