Hulu hasn't had any new episodes of the USA shows (apparently there's a 30 day wait) so for those of us who watch it there, I think there should be the rest of the episodes of White Collar (so please no spoilers!) and Royal Pains. At least I'm hoping. Fringe is continuing to be very interesting. Otherwise, same as usual, I believe.

So many great characters and funny jokes.

The Office hasn't been too bad either. Pretty solid, in fact. A big improvement over last year. Curious to see how the Steve Carell leaving goes. I like him in The Office but for the most part his comedy movie career does nothing for me.

For Drama I have nothing. Alright, in all seriousness, it's a really cheesy costume. Which could be fine in a world where a live-action Wonder Woman could be played like an episode of Brave & The Bold, but instead the show sounds like, well, this:

The Daily Beast has obtained a copy of Kelley’s draft of the Wonder Woman pilot script, dated December 16, 2010—and it’s laughably bizarre. In Kelley’s vision, Wonder Woman is presented as a weepy career woman-slash-superheroine with three identities (Wonder Woman; Diana Themyscira, the chairman of Themyscira Industries; and mousy assistant Diana Price) to juggle.
… Managing to be both cloying and tragically un-hip, Kelley’s Wonder Woman script seems an about-face for this 70-year-old iconic character. Merchandise meetings and legal jargon jostle uncomfortably with superheroics, pajama parties with saving the world.
The result is a Wonder Woman who is more like Kelley’s Ally McBeal than the feminist superhero who stands side-by-side with her fellow DC icons Superman and Batman. This is a woman whose feelings are hurt by people commenting on her breast size, who is looking for love in all the wrong places, and who wants to have it all!

@StefanJ: I hadn't thought of it, but you're absolutely right. Amiable is just about the perfect word to describe the characters of Royal Pains.

@DJ Stawes: I think more than anything, the costume looks cheap. The colors are a little too bright and shiny, and what should be metal looks more like plastic. And I deeply hope that the copy of the pilot script isn't real. Because there is one thing I am certain of - Wonder Woman shouldn't be "weepy".

Almost.

@Stefan - it sucks that they're interfering with the show at all, but I imagine the cast thing would be more a matter of downgrading people to guest stars instead of series regulars. So farewell then, Peter Boyd...
Spoilers for last episode of Waking The Dead below in invisitext...

I was completely wrong. I was certain Boyd would end the show either dead, sectioned or disgraced. As ever, Trevor Eve brings everything to the role - at points even letting his defeat and the sheer weight of his loss make his face into something ancient, eternally wronged.
And ending in under Waterloo Bridge, rooting the show strongly back into the Smoke, worked just fine.

Coming Soon - Tara Fitzgerald's Eve Lockhart gets a new gig, The Body Farm. At first, I felt the Killing was overly drawn out. I feel like, as a TV-watching people, Law & Order has somewhat dulled our senses when it comes to horrible crime. We see scenarios every week that are very similar as those portrayed in the Killing, and Stabler & Munch and Ice T & co. solve them in 45 minutes. That's about when I realized, this is the point. Horrible crimes like the murder of 14 year old girls should not be glossed over and solved with no serious impact on the detectives, the family, the wrong suspects, and I guess more importantly, the viewer.

It's dark as Hell. Gritty. I like that the female detective is not a stereotype. She just is who she is. A while back, someone started a thread about the "strong female character" and how it was badly portrayed in film, TV etc. Sarah Linden is exactly how to get that right. She doesn't have to prove how tough she is, she just lives it.

Rented "Super" On Demand. Wanted to see it in the theater, but wasn't playing anywhere nearby. Surprised to see it On Demand.

The girlfriend had originally said she wanted to see it after I showed her a trailer and told her it was the director of Slither. She's very picky about her "dorkyness."

I think we were both disturbed by this film, in different ways. We both have sick, twisted and dark senses of humor, but

the superhero sidekick raping the hero scene was a bit off for me, the cartoonish violence/realistic violence mash-up hit me a bit wierd, and she was a bit bothered by the weird tentacles and extreme gore and eplosions of body parts.

I thought the first episode of Game of Thrones was good, but it hit me with the same problems that made me stop reading fantasy fiction back in the day, mainly the subservient role of women as pawns in games played by men and the 'people with darker skin tones are all savages, yes' thing. However, I've read enough of Martin's work, although not this stuff, to give it some more episodes in the hopes that there's some interesting twists on these tropes to come further down the line. But it was stunning to look at, and Sean Bean with a sword is always pleasing to my brain. And it's exciting that fantasy is something HBO clearly feels is worth spending what looked like a fairly substantial chunk of change on. Now if they would just make a science fiction show for grown ups, that'd be great.

Over here in the UK BBC4 is halfway through series 3 of French police show Enrenages/Spiral. The most incompetent police in the world are attempting to find a serial killer while skating close to losing their jobs and, in some cases, going to prison. Awesome, and not just because of my ever-expanding crush on the wonderful Caroline Proust. Thoroughly recommended for anyone who doesn't mind reading subtitles. And the first two seasons are available as a DVD set which I would recommend grabbing.

Also enjoying Spartacus: Gods of the Arena for it's over-the-top goofiness and wonderful, wonderful dialogue. John Hannah saying, 'You counsel to suck the cock that pisses on me?' Just awesome. Although it may be the second most idiotic show airing at the moment...

Embarrassing admission: I love Hawaii 5-0. It's the stupidest TV show I have ever seen, and about a fifth of each episode appears to be an extended advertisement for Hawaii as a tourist destination, but the banter between O'Loughlin and Kahn is so watchable. And it makes me happy. Senility may be setting in.

Of course, all else pales into insignificance next to the return of Doctor Who tomorrow...

S.

That is a broad generalization about broads and one I don't think is true especially in this series and The Sword of Truth series. Which are the two biggest series that represent the genre and for your other point, come on dude we all know the only thing that scare nerdy white guys more than interaction with beautiful women is big black guys.
