EDITED TO ADD: a few other message boards are seeing this action, and believe it to be associated with http://input.insights.gravity.com -- which is the system we use for Whitechapel traffic analytics. Looking at my panel, Insights seems to have crashed overnight and may have only come back online in the last couple of hours.

NEW EDIT: having flicked around some more sites, I can see that it's not just us. I have SWITCHED OFF the Insights extension.
