It's strange that Youtube a place for moving pictures has instead become a visual radio station.
Whenever we ask for some songs on this forum, no problem a hundred new discoveries.
But where are all the good short films? I said Good.I'd like some. I think this will hard for us as a forum.
I'd like Narrative story based short films
Some rules to filter the dross:
No abstract plotless weirdness -(story!) No interviews -(story!) No documentry shorts (- story!) No travelogues (heres my town etc- story!) No musician type music vids- (story!) Animation is allowed
Don't pick the first short movie you see, just whatever you regard as truly great or good
Well, I see pretty good ones on IFC and Sundance Channel, every once in awhile, but I don't remember the names always. You've certainly put out a lot of weird guidelines that exclude some good shorts (any of the Neistat brothers stuff, for instance, since it's all documentary...). Here's a good one, Wes Anderson's original Bottle Rocket short. It's different enough from the actual film to make it worth watching, since the alternate dialogue is damn funny...
What originally came to mind for me was Fifteen Minute Hamlet, but I can never find that anywhere.
Perfect choices! That's what im talking about! Minute i watched it I was drawn into the story even though technically it wasn't brilliant.
I've sat through loads of abstract animation or filmic montages and that's great. But there seems to be a great hole as big as a moon crater for just telling regular stories.
incredible cgi stuff, movie level special FX! But only 4 or 5 are actually good stories.
I'd like this to be a thread of excellence. It doesn't have to be all black and white and moody, it can be colour or animated. It can be thrilling or plain entertaining.
my contribution, brilliant coming of age drama, which later spawned oscar nominated Raising Victor Vegars with exactly the same cast but slightly older..
