@Valente..love the brushwork and how you can barely make out their faces. Agree with greasemonkey about it's pulpiness.
@DBed..very polished looking and only 35 cents!? Bargain.

I wish I had the time to ink this, or at least give It some color. I even had a cool name for them: "The Fin Fang Four!", but then someone came and told me those already exist. How crazy is that?

    Fing Fang Four

Lot's of good stuff here. Some of my favorites are @Chip Zdarsky's (you left me with a bad mouthtaste, though), @Paul Sizer's (slick and clever) @Chris G's (is that some Hellraiser influence I see?) and @Dbedlam's (amazing retro stye). But that's just to name a few.

There's still a few days left, so keep them coming.

When in doubt, go Atomic Horror, with a pinch of The Ambassadors Of Death.

I had to dig out my username and password just so I could log in and say: Your work is brilliant. I've never cared for the FF, but I would buy that cover in a heartbeat. I *want* to read that book. Absolutely beautiful. And. Erm. Apologies if this is a stupid question, but... do you sell prints of your artwork?

ETA: Oooookay, so I got un-stupid and found your deviant art site.

This thread is so full of awesome it cracks the skin around my lips. I'm pleased to see so many skeleton astronauts as well. Scooby Doo took a heavier toll on the collective subconscious than I previously thought. Great job, everyone

    Anyhoosers:

The cosmic storm had irrevocably changed the lives of our intrepid rocket thieves.
Professor Aldous Primmon Brooks was completely destroyed in corporeal form. By the unnatural laws of the universe he found himself psychically linked to a specimen horde of carnivorous worms. Now able to split his consciousness between every organism that makes up his host body, Professor Meat can process 3.6 million calculations and skeletonize a dairy cow in under six seconds. Brooks' niece by marriage, Charolette Ohayashi was only fifteen years old when she grew up too fast. Now two stories tall and with the cellular density 800 times that of a teenage girl, her hormonal rampages can destroy entire city blocks. Girlzilla likes sweets, the Ramones, and stepping on people smaller than her.
Spalding "Spud" Dwyer, A1C, discovered after the reconfiguration that he had traded in his ability to speak or hear for 360 degrees of sight, vision in every electromagnetic spectrum, and 8 dimensions of awareness.
Mech.E.Q.M.S. Rintje Schedel was on space walk for repairs when the storm destroyed his physical body. The magnetic field of the disturbance prevented his personality from joining the Void, trapping it in the ravaged cadaver of his previous existence. Half undead, half plasma signature, the Necronaut haunts space and time with a sickly pink glow.

I've never done this before, so I hope I'm doing it right. The description on the first page didn't say it had to be a superhero story.
And this is a silly question, but is this a contest? Or...something else?

    Fantastic Four

Frustrated by the lack of space funding in each of their home countries, a group of four astrophysicists from ESA, ROSCOSMOS, NASA and CNSA decide to steal a decommissioned Soyuz and conduct the research they've always dreamed of on their own. After a month of floating in space and their research successful, the team returns to Earth, ready to face the consequences of interplanetary theft. However, as they walk through the crowd of onlookers which has gathered around their landing capsule, they can feel it. Without speaking a word to each other, each scientist knows that something about her has changed...

Not an official contest, no. Think of it more as an artist jam session with a guiding theme. There might be some friendly competition going on, but the emphasis is much more on the friendly than on the compete. Many of the artists who've been regularly participating in these remodel threads have said that it's helped them develop their skills, as they feel the need to bring their best work here.

@Xiao Mau: With an entry like that, please feel free to come back and participate any time. Great work!

And it seems the thread is ping-ponging through the blogosphere with many nice words being said for all the great art here.
