It's Friday, it's past noon UK time, it's FREAKANGELS.

G'morning, Whitechapel. My house has decided I probably miss having upstairs neighbors, so it's making weird noises in the attic to make me feel more at home. Awfully thoughty of it, I think. How's everyone doing this week?

I'm quite well thanks Ariana, although I was highly annoyed this afternoon to miss out getting into a Borders closing down sale by two minutes. Unlimited books at $2.00 each! If a book chain's going to collapse at least you should be able to exploit the carcase...

You know, there's something to appreciate on every page of today's episode. Personally I particularly enjoyed Alice's rigorous logic.

Have felt like something has been trying to punch its way out of the inside of my neck all week, but otherwise perfectly fine except when a panoply of other panic-related symptoms swamp me. So, losing my mind.

The art on page two is top-notch. I like how Luke's face is turning into his memories flowing around him. And his last line on page 6 is great fun.

As for Alice - I think she's as shrewd a detective as Kait is! If nothing else, she sure knows all her Freakangels pretty well already. She brings up a few good points too, most especially: DOES Arkady ever sleep?

"You'll still be a complete dickhead, if that's what you're wondering." It's good to see the future FreakAngels are true to their roots.

Had a reasonable week. Went to the Comics & Small Press Expo at the weekend and met up with some friends. Said hello to Dave McKean. Picked up a couple of 2000AD fanzines that I've enjoyed - Dogbreath & Zarjaz (blog) and a few others that I can't remember.

Got my mortgage offer through today. Trying to decide whether to phone the council and deal with their pointless bureaucracy or just pay an extra £25 of council tax for 2 months.

I'm thinking about taking voluntary redundancy and moving away from London. Can't sleep. Big Changes.

I keep expecting Mark or Alice to interrupt them and fuck the shit up. It could all go so hideously wrong...

SHIT I forgot about the Dave McKean talk at the small press expo. Shit shit shit! This is what not sleeping does.

^Yeah, Mark certainly is the elephant in the room, isn't he?

Great episode, particularly the splash of Luke's memories warping in/out of his head. Are all those shots from previous episodes? I recognise most of them, but that one of him licking his teeth is unfamiliar.

My week has been rather boozier than is healthy, but other than that I can't complain. Happy friday, folks!

SHIT I forgot about the Dave McKean talk at the small press expo.

I missed the talk as I didn't think he would appreciate a screaming 6 wk old and a 2 yr old who only wanted to climb up and down the stairs on the stage.

"that one of him licking his teeth is unfamiliar"

End of second book, when he sees the refugees of Shoreditch Park being brought to Whitechapel and says "ooh, fresh fish today".
Great episode, and no, don't think Alice will enter shooting at random. But she will give someone a good berating, I'm sure.

Cool week, celebrated Italy's 150th birthday!

LOVE the art!!!!!!!!!!! just can't say that enough, particularly in the second panel. And as always the art is matched by the excellence of the story. I'm just a visitor from across the pond, but I wouldn't miss this strip for anything!

Something about the worry on Sirkka's face on page 6 kills me. Genuine worry for a family member, no matter how much of a dickhead he's been.

The art on pages 2 and 4 are simply awesome.

Finally got my annual haircut/beard-trim yesterday. So I only resemble a vagrant from the neck down now. Killer stiff neck this morning; never realised my inadvertent mullet was doubling as a scarf.

Mesmerising art, as always, but I have a new fave quote: "People from the future have told me I'm a dickhead twice today, and I don't know how I should feel about that."

Can either of you put this on a mug, t-shirt or project it onto the moon, please?

    It's still morning. Good morning!

Ah, great episode! Purple Wyrm Person said there was something to appreciate in every panel, and PWP is right! I thought the same thing! Really lingered over every little and big chunk. God I'm going to miss this book. And it's going to be an incredible achievement when it's all done and on the shelf. Thank you, good people. Carry on.

Morning Ariana, are you in a house with an older, more open style attic? You could have barn owls or something, you many cultures owls are harbingers of death....enjoy your new house!

This comic is getting rather oblique.

Which is to say, it appears to be writing itself into quite a tight corner.

Or, from another perspective, coming to a conclusion.

Seems to be the same thing, to me - after all, isn't the end of a story just the point at which the story can no longer continue, as it will no longer be interesting?

I have to say, something that continuously kicks my ass about the art is just how physical all of the psychic effects are - memories are Polaroids/comic panels, time bubbles are TV static, psychokinetic blasts leave craters - it's all so much real than how such things are usually depicted, and it never feels cute or gimmicky, it just feels like Freakangels.

I'm not sure whose idea such things were, Paul's or Warren's, so I'll just thank you both equally.

I'm going to be sad to see this story come to its conclusion. It's so refreshing to read a superhero story that actually repairs the villains.

LOVED the art where all Luke's memories were being peeled from his face! Beautiful, interesting and great fun to look and see which ones you recall.

I also love how well Alice knows the Freakangels. I did think she was going to come in and ruin everything. Or that it would turn out she could kill (or good as kill) Luke after all and all the future stuff was a red herring and not set in stone. She's going to have something to say, that's for sure!

Now Luke's dealt with, Mark - and the possible greater evil he fears - are the things left to address. I'd love to know what made Mark switch from that little kid who wanted to do good in the world. What does Mark know that they don't? He's the real mystery to me.

If Luke can be fixed, can Mark? Not sure how Alice would feel about that...
