@FredG -- There's a certain Twilight Zone quality to a weathered, beat-up copy of a comic with a future cover date...but seriously, very slick. I particularly like the chunky pink 'Misty' lettering; did you design that, or is it a font?
Thanks @Jack Hare, the font is Bauhaus 93 I just kerned the type to where they touched the tweaked the outlines so everything lined up. I figured it might be the kind of comic that gets stuck under the mattress so Mom won't freak out.
Wow... The Sentinels is pretty popular. That was my pick as soon as I read the list. I thought it would be cool to make Misty the title character of the book rather than a seemingly arbitrary name for the magazine.
There's so many great illustrations in this thread. Awesome stuff from everyone!
sooo, i havnt posted in a looong while, because well, im terrible with deadlines. in fear of missing this deadline as well, im posting my messy messy pencils....
great job to everyone so far, and yes, it would seem the sentinels is the popular one....
Not sure if I'll have the time to color it this weekend, so I'll submit the b/w version for the moment...
I'm a big sucker for ghost dogs, so I knew I had to showcase that story. Plus I love the title for it. I didn't plan on including the other two stories at first. But the visuals eventually came to me and they felt right to be included, in order to give it that ol' anthology feel.
@Struthersneil - Gorgeous Inking as ever, and a nice play on the title - funny and cool @Mojokingbee - I Love your style, really sinister and full of character @Tombland - a brilliant concept and also very neat and to the point and superbly stylish @Dave Lee Ingersoll - Loads of character and humor in your illustrations, and I love the font @ Frenando - Thats truly stylish, and would really make a very slick poster @Paul Sizer - Fantastic as ever - I also Loved the other idea in the artists thread (nothing at all wrong with that dog) I'm in danger of typing a book here, so i'll just say all this months contributions are stunning, such a wide variety of styles and approaches. @Neila - I never got around to applauding Sharkpony, so I do so here (I was tempted to sneak it onto the blackboard in tribute) - @FredG - A hard choice but I reckon yours ticked all the boxes for me this week - Luvverly @paul milligan - beautiful stuff, I hope mines not too much of a rip off - When I saw it I admit I was tempted to match the uniform colour.
@Paul Milligan - Baphomet is adorable. Team him(her) up with Sharkpony for a winning comic :)
@JSween - Actually the unfinished look works. I'd just assume that this is the cover of a xeroxed zine published by a bunch of teenagers in the late 80s.
@ESCgoat - the wagging of its tail makes the ghost dog seem cute and friendly.
@BattGuano - A good demonstration why bad men shouldn't fuck with school girls!
@Herr Hussein - Yikes! Great painting. The dog is scary just for the drool factor.
@Valente - Striking design. Someone is in way over their head.
It's not What I was in mind in the first place but I proud of what I did. It's not perfect but I feel like I learn something doing this one. Thx for the contest! @FredG I love your idea of the ghost dog and the cat! Like always congrats everyone we can see amazing stuff here
@David Ingersolll: I figured Sharkpony and the "for/four" pun might give it a little dark humor. All meant in good fun--hope no offense is taken by Sharkpony creators or fans! :)
There is an amazing amount of excellent work in this thread. Random ones I can think of that I especially liked: Struthersneil, Ed Sludden, Hey Apathy, Neila, Fernando Lucas, tombland, Sizer, FredG, and a bunch more I'm not thinking of...I love these remake/remodel threads!
Bloody hell some fantastic ideas here. I miss good girl's comics like I used to read and your entries allow me to imagine what they might look like now if they'd continued to be made....
