This issue, I think, is a lot of fun. #1 is an exorcism story, and it owes a lot to post-Exorcist horror movies. In #2 we get to go back and play with folklore instead. Changelings aren't something that get s whole lot of press these days, but they're a pretty scary idea — monsters who come in the night and steal your baby, and leave something in its place. Lots (if not the majority) would have given up mid-process (and understandably so.) Glad to see you stuck with it!
You know, it's only when I read this that I realize I never actually considered giving up. It just wasn't on the table; once we came up with the idea of Witch Doctor, we were going to do it and keep doing it no matter what, in whatever capacity we were able. That's interesting to realize now.

I've learned a lot about branding while doing this miniseries, specifically because of how confused people have been about #0/the preview issue and how it relates to the miniseries proper. Here's a breakdown of the issues we've announced so far, which I hope clears things up.



Witch Doctor #0
A 16-page vampire story, reworked from Witch Doctor: First Incision (our self-published debut back in 2008). Sold in color as a flipbook with WALKING DEAD #85; also sold as a B&W ashcan at conventions, and sent to comics retailers as a preview for the series. It's not going to be reprinted in the mini, and may or may not be collected in the trade.
Witch Doctor #1 (of 4)

@James Cunningham — I'm waiting for that too. ;) And there wasn't really an "original series." We did two stories, a 16 page vampire story (which got revised as WITCH DOCTOR #0) and an eight-page story about a golem. That's all.

@Warped Savant — I've still only heard from one other person reporting the 'boils,' but I'm definitely curious how common they were. My guess is that the paper probably got oversaturated with the ink — it's a very ink-heavy book! And I'm glad you noticed the use of the umbrella at the beginning; in retrospect, I think I should've drawn more attention to that bit.

Slight tangent- it's really easy in a lot of comics to just kind of scan the art and only pay attention to the words, because everything is explained so thoroughly.
