3 hours later, I'm still slightly shocked and unsettled by this episode! But more than that, I'm flushed with an almost childlike hope: "The world's still there?! The FreakAngels aren't world wreckers, mass-murderers?" I would very much like to see these characters released from that belief and subsequent guilt. I've grown fond of these tykes. It's a nice possibility, yes. We'll see. Though our heroes would have to wrestle once again with a world that doesn't want them. Man.

And man, I love this story. It really is a glorious, high-wire act. The "possibilities," the level of complexity. Just like life.

"Half Moon" looks fun and all, but I treasure every freaky friday still in the bottle.

Yay Alice! She may be an ordinary human, but in some ways she's more together than the FA. I didn't expect her to figure out the outlines of Mark's plan, which makes the revelations more surprising. Too bad the series is drawing to a close, it would have been nice to see how Alice and Kait would have played off each other.

As to what happened to England, two theories pop to mind. There's the "It's A GOOD Life" scenario, where England gets warped to a pocket universe. The other plays off of something Geoff Manaugh mentioned in THE BLDGBLOG BOOK. Thanks to global warming, Great Britain is slowly tilting with Scotland's mountains rising higher and London sinking lower to the point that London being like Venice is a geological probability. Alice's eyes are particularly visible and pale in this sequence. I like it. Makes her more vivid while simultaneously making her clearly separate from the FAs.
