The Secret Avengers book is to be taken on by Ellis and McKelvie for issue 16. Or Stalin and the Kitten as I’m now going to refer to the pairing as. I may even draw a cartoon. Subsequent issues will be drawn by other artsists. Who? It’s a secret.

So Jamie McKelvie's only doing #16, but is Warren sticking around beyond the one issue? Not sure how to interpret the above paragraph.

I will be purchasing 10 copies of each of these six issues as my way of supporting Warren Ellis and showing him my loyalty; no I don't expect jack shit from you in return for buying your comics. I buy them because you are my favorite writer and your works tickle my pickle like no other.

Also, I will be purchasing the ensuing overpriced hardcover that will collect his six issue run.

I like Jamie's art but I hate the way he draws the Beast. Other artists have scaled back the cat-ness of late and he dials it all the way up :( Pretty stoked about this, though.

Man, I'm buying the shit out of this. This looks like it's going to be a genuinely FUN Marvel title, which I've been looking forward to for a while.

Yes, sorry if it's unclear, I wrote it when drunk. I'll revisit.

Fantastic pairing, can't wait for the issue.

I can't think of any comic news I could possibly like more than this. I hope Valkyrie makes an appearance in one of these, because Warren writing someone named Brunnhilde just seems right and proper.

Translation: McKelvie draws him accurately. =p

Great news. This is the only Marvel book I've been purchasing lately. I don't feel like trying to follow whatever big Marvel storyline(s) is going on right now (Avengers Prime? Generation Hope? Spider-Man is part of the FF-or what?). At the risk of sounding newbish, it's too much for me to pay attention to, to be honest. Secret Avengers lets me read about Rogers & Co. without having to get into all that other stuff, and I like Brubaker. Now I don't have to look for another Marvel book once Brubaker's off. This is awesome, and I can't wait.

I'm loving this. Secret Avengers is already a pretty fun book, but Warren going Global Frequency on it? Those self-contained stories are something I go back to over and over again, so it will be nice to have a pseudo-sequel to it in the form of six more single bursts of insanity. Curious about the other artists...

@frequentcontributor: Huh. I'd totally missed the comparison to Global Frequency, but now that you mention it, yeah, this may be sort of a spiritual successor. That bumps me up from "interested" to "gotta have it!"

They're already doing Marvel Global Frequency - it's called Heroes for Hire.

According to Comicbook Resources Ellis is writing six 'done-in-one' issues with a variety of artists.

Guess I'll be buying 6 issues of Secret Avengers, then. :)

Beast's remark about Moon Knight and the script excerpt from the second issue makes me wonder whether the Ellis run will be the bizarre love child of GLOBAL FREQUENCY and NEXTWAVE. That aside, if Ellis can successfully bring a humorous touch to such characters as War Machine and Valkyrie, he will bring me to a greater awe of his writing powers than already exists.

SHOCKINGLY i am excited for this. i saw it mentioned so many times yesterday, that i had a dream where jamie had been in town and ate lunch at my wifes bakery and insisted on seeing how stuff was made. THAT BASTARD

    Can confirm.

Also, sorry, Quitely Beast is my OTB.

No need to apologize, Jamie. I'm not sure how many I can speak for with this, but I counted X-Men as effectively dead prior to the Morrison/Quitely run. It was as much the art as the writing that made me reconsider, and the character redesigns done by Quitely grabbed me before Morrison's writing did. Seeing the catlike Beast over the older, blander (in my opinion) designs is a nice thing for me.
