Not into that much choir music but Thomas Tallis with Spem in Alium is quite amazing. 'The motet is laid out for eight choirs of five voices' (wiki). A 40 part motet and is not performed often. Yet to see it live.

@joe.distort - I sort of know what you mean about RBF, because I find it quite uncomfortable knowing that middle-aged men sing songs to impressionable teens about what it is to be a misanthropic teen, but at the same time....they can be pretty damn catchy!
Do you listen to a lot of new ska? I struggle to find modern bands that capture the sound I loved back then. I guess I moved on to bands like Tiger Army and Creepshow, Hellcat bands and stuff like Sonic Boom Six, but none of it feels the same. Streetlight Manifesto too I suppose.

have only digested the first half of songs. Mirah's bits are perfect, pretty and folky with all her weird touches per normal, but don't fall off their own horse with the weight of trying to sounding weird like her previous work, which must be the effect of collaboration. Thao's leads are not up to the level of her previous work but still are very good. Second half hasn't caught my ear yet

-Black Joe Lewis and the Honeybears - Scandalous

hot. The opening tracks concentrate on funk, sounding like their first album, and are a bit stale and are blown away by the bluesy latter tracks which are just stellar

-Bill Callahan - Apocalypse

always have liked Bill. This is his first really surprising-sounding album... ever I think.
