So one of my favourite local artists (or rather, a singer from my favourite local band, which is breaking up, but she's going solo) has a new album out. I just went to her show and bought the CD, so that's what I've been listening to lately! This song has not yet failed to make me cry.

(if you go to the channel homepage the rest of the gig is up there as well, the other person playing was Frank Turner, who I am also getting quite into, and also there's a bunch of random gaslight anthem videos :P)

man, people who go to gigs and talk over the performer is one of my biggest peeves. if you want to talk fine but at least have the common decency to fuck off to another room or another place.

@ian holloway, yes. i've never pushed so hard to the stage as i did on friday, more to get away from catching distracting snippets of inane conversation than because of any fidelity to the sound or the performer.

Oh god that was so fucking annoying. Assholes at the back talked through the ENTIRE supporting act (which is the one I posted) and we were just like -___-

It's not so bad when it's a band with fucking drums to drown them out, but an acoustic set? really?

(if you actually can't hear shit in the video [I can't tell because I know the words], two of her songs are streaming online: one at Poison City Records and one at Bombshell, both in thos elittle sidebar media player things.)

i'm not even remotely rational about this band but this is fabulous.

Edward Artemiev's electronic soundtrack to Andrei Tarkovsky’s Solaris is available as a free download

The Solaris soundtrack is unusual in that it was created using the rare ANS synthesizer, which used photo-optic recording to translate sound into images, or to translate drawn images into sound:

I love how the synth sounds. I'd also be interested in seeing some of the images it produces from sounds.
