I'm all for keeping the old ones open and having people add to them. That being said, I understand the "Aww man, why is someone bringing up this thread again?" reaction because I usually do that too. But then I remember it's for Art's sake and suddenly it's usually okay.
And, now that I think about it a little bit, it might also have people think it's okay to respond to really old threads without actually adding anything to them. (I'm talking about regular threads here, not the R&R ones.)
Aye, I tend to prefer the whole letting old, timed out threads just get the sink, so they don't pop up. Nearly everyone I've seen who updates old R&R threads with their work will just post it into the Artist's thread for maximum visibility, so it's kind of silly to me to then also have the front page cluttered up with irrelevant threads.
I am also just a compartmentalizing neat freak, so YMMV.
Oh hey, there's a solution! Ye Olde Sink tag! No rusty jalopies on the front porch, but still the option of keeping relevant Arts in their appropriate threads.
ETA: Really small jalopies or a big porch, shut up.
It would be nice if we could individually remove a thread from the With Me tab - a sort of unfollow or sink that only applies to our private, logged-in reading.
I like the tyrannical closing of threads. I really, really like it. The Sink is a good compromise, though. And I'll vote again for the return of the limited-time-only Open Mics.
I'm for a sink. My thoughts were just that it makes sense to post the stuff on an already active thread rather than multiple threads that haven't been touched in ages. I just recall The Old Ways with the R/R thread and just wanted clarification. Looks like I got it. Thanks!
EDIT: Also with Allana. I'm for limited Open Mics.
It's once in a blue moon I'm around for one these days, but I did enjoy the time limited open mic slots a lot. Sitting up in the wee hours, sipping a drink and listening to Whitechapel always hit just the right spot.
I've got a mixed opinion about the open mic.I used to love the energy back in 2008 etc. when it was just on a saturday with Warren at the controls. But i'm also fond of what we got now. That's just me,though.
Would it be bad form of me to start a discussion about a a Drink and Draw type show I'm putting together this march? Artist would be expected to gimmee 35% of their earnings for the night (to pay my collaborators and the bar and whatnot), and we're earning money for The American Cancer Society (prostate cancer this time around). I didn't know what the rules were about promoting "for profit" events.
I... well. You know what? Go right ahead. I was gonna point out the the blog section doesn't quite work like how I think you want the blog section to work -- but, hell, there's no harm in it. All the links in the world aren't gonna fuss with the forum, so yeah, go with god.
Hey there adminy folks - Question: You've probably noticed the WHITECHAPEL QUARTERLY thread that's out there right now. I just want to make sure it's alright to use that prefix for the upcoming books. If not we'll figure something else out. Don't want to step on any toes 'round these parts.
