So we here at Whitechapel were going to be involved in a multiple-website remake/remodel-Project-Rooftop type thing for Aquaman. For some reason, this didn't pan out the way it was supposed to. Possibly I lost track of things, I don't know.

But the idea still amuses me. However, I think it needs that extra little twist.

So your INSTRUCTIONS are:

Design a publicity poster for an adaptation of the DC Comics property AQUAMAN -- for HBO. HBO is the home of DEADWOOD, THE WIRE, THE SOPRANOS, ROME, BOARDWALK EMPIRE, you know the score... and therefore you know their stable of showrunners, people like David Simon and David Milch... and the sort of material they do.

The HBO version of AQUAMAN.

In fact my experience of comics is really limited. I've read Mort Cinder (Argentine graphic novel - the art is spectacular), Watchmen, a bit of Y and more recently discovered Transmetropolitan and Freakangels. I've never read a "superhero" comic, mainly because I find the universes so initially complicated and the characters so variable (from what i've seen I can't equate Justice League Batman with Year One Batman) Could anyone recommend a starting point - I'd really appreciate any suggestions.

Interestingly enough, Aquaman had an octupus buddy/sidekick/mascot in the comics whose name was ... I forget but it was pretty stupid. In cartoons, he rode a sea-horse. And where's Aqualad, everybody? Further trivia note, before Warren atomizes me - Aquaman's baby died at the hands of Black Manta and Mera (his wife) never forgave him.

@mister andersen I'm sure most of us have it better in our heads than it turns out, but keep going and you'll start to close the gap. If you can enjoy the journey and not have too fixed an idea of the end result then this can also be less frustrating.

@Jeroen23 - Your one didn't load as fast as the others on the first page so I missed it. I saw it this morning for the first time, nice job dude, Big and Bold! It caught my eye while looking over the top of a friend's laptop because Aquaman was right side up and I thought it was a new submission. :P.
