I listen to a lot of podcasts, but I really enjoy:

- The Skeptic's Guide to the Universe: skeptical discussions on the paranormal and alternative medicine, somewhat geeky, too.

- Now Playing Podcast: the hosts take movie series and watch all of them. Each film gets a separate show of about an hour. They have done all the major horror series, Star Trek, Terminator, a Philip K Dick retrospective (and more) and are now starting the X-Men series (they did "Marvel Misfits" earlier with Howard the Duck and Man-Thing). Very enjoyable discussions, and they try to get a fan of the series, a newbie and a casual viewer to discuss them.

- The Professional Left podcast is a commentary on US politics from two people who are pretty fed up with the status quo.

- Scopes Monkey Choir is a skeptical music podcast. It's about science and music.

- Masocast has great interviews with kinky people.

- The Bugle is the official podcast of the Royal Wedding, and more. (Comedy)

I've been listening to a lot of The Partially Examined Life, which is a pretty decent philosophy podcast if that's your thing. What I like best about it is the three guys that do it are all grad-school drop-outs, so they know they're stuff, but they don't take it TOO seriously. I have found it to be both legitimately enlightening and entertaining.

I podcast from time to time, if only to get radio experience.

I've been finding that I'm frustrated by the length of most comics-related podcasts that I listen to; I really can't devote two hours to listen to rambling, especially when I find it impossible to listen to things with words in them while writing.

I've been toying around with the idea of doing a lot of short podcasts, instead of one long one every week/month. It'd work on the same principle as TED Talks. No one downloads an entire TED conference off iTunes; they download the ones that look interesting to them. Why not do the same with comics? Instead of having a user listen to 2+ hours of podcast in order to get to the one bit they want to hear, why not just break it up for them?

I'm thinking of getting this rolling this summer; I'd appreciate any insight anyone with experience might have. I'd pretty much be running it through Skype, as well, so it might make for some interesting guest opportunities.

Aside from the Gervais/Merchant podcasts, I never paid podcasts much mind until recently. Though late to the game, I'm really loving the concept. Perhaps it wasn't a mature enough medium last time I tried (six or seven years ago).

My favorite right now is a comics podcast called Paperkeg. As Paperkeg they've only done four or five podcasts but this group of guys has been together for a while under different names and the experience shows. This isn't a "news of the week" podcast, but rather a round-table that covers the comics that the podcasters purchased since the last show along with a "book club" type segment discussing past works. I really can't put my finger on what it is that they are doing right. They make me want to join in the discussion and always manage to pique my interest in at least one new title/past title each podcast. For example, last week they did a "book-club" on one of Alan Moore's Swamp Thing arcs that had me wanting to go back and re-experience the title (as a matter of fact, I didn't care for Moore's Swamp Thing when I was younger). A month or two ago their review of Jeff Lamire's Sweet Tooth had me desperate to read that book.

Here's episode 2 (which is actually the third one recorded but due to some editing issues was the second one posted): Werewolf Radar, Episode 2

Like I said, formative stages. We'll have episodes three through five up soon. Just last night created a blogspot page and a feedburner account so when we've got through five they'll post there and to iTunes and podcatchers will be able to find them (in theory).

If anyone has any tips for free storage and general how-to for getting podcasts up and available I'd be super happy to hear them. Until then enjoy Werewolf Radar!

PS: Also features some pretty rad music.

PPS: Edited to make the above link an actual link instead of a URL.

I am part of a pretty conventional Film Podcast called The Flicksation Podcast. (I didn't name it!) It is bi or tri weekly. We discuss 2-3 new releases, some film news, give a themed dvd pick and then make mention of anything else old or new we have seen of late. We aren't film scholars, but I have a great time recording them. The tastes of the hosts vary, with me being the least "mainstream" of the bunch I'd say. You can check it out at www.flicksation.com or search it in the iTunes store.

I listen to a ton of podcasts, my favorites being Filmspotting ( a more pretentious version of my podcast) and the audio version of Real Time with Bill Maher, since I do not have HBO
