Yeah that happens. No Thathphires, but the actor playing Locke looks rather how I imagined Hoat to look.

The problem with today's episode is that watching it today means that I have the longest time to wait until the next one....

Yeah, I agree. I have to wonder how this is going to turn out because, if I remember correctly, the Goat betrays his original employers and dies by ambush later and Locke has been pretty resistant to the idea of leaving Bolton's employ.

So disappointed the deal with the Unsullied wasn't concluded in this episode. :P

Nice little in-joke about the Meereenese Knot...

Totally missed that but you're right.

The looks on Tyrion's and Bron's faces were hilarious.

Any way, we know that a certain wedding will be happening later because HBO hasn't been exactly subtle, but do you think they're going to get to Joffrey's wedding? I think that'd be a pretty good season closer.

Two weddings for the price of one, perhaps.
-I hope not. Maybe Joffers' be sometime toward the middle of this season?

Here's how I imagine the end of the season if it concludes with Joffrey's wedding:
In the last two minutes of the show Joffrey takes his big swig of poison wine, we all get to see the little shit asphyxiate, and then everyone rounds on Tyrion as his sister levels a finger and screams some version of, "YOU!" with him going, "Me?" then cut to black.

I was watching the episode with a friend who hasn't read the books, and I was having the hardest time keeping my face still in the scenes with

The changes so far are interesting. They're enough to keep me as a book reader curious.

Yeah. It's interesting to see the scenes with Theon after his capture by the Boltons because we never really see him in the books after his capture
until later when he shows up as Reek.
It's interesting to see them adding this filler, especially when, as a book reader, you know the end result (which, for me, makes it "worse"/better because I can more fully appreciate the fuckery of what's going to happen to him).

BTW, was that a screw they were drilling into his foot or just a clamp?
  4.  (9805.452)
I think it was a clamp. If it were a screw, then releasing the tension when his rescuer(?) did would not be a mercy; pulling it out without also bandaging the foot would risk his bleeding out, especially in the crucifixion position he was in.

    *I haven't read the books.

I believe it's already been confirmed that the Royal Wedding is going to be next season, not this one.

    @rough night

Not a spoiler: we actually don't ever see what happens to Theon while he's a guest of the Boltons. A lot is implied but it's never put down on paper.

Just watching the show, I had no idea who those people were. I carefully research* after particularly confusing events in the show, to see why people are behaving oddly, or to find out who some character is, who apparently we should already know about and be very excited to see.

*and honestly don't mind a few spoilers on this one show, because anticipating random suffering is often worse than knowing what's coming before hand. What's coming is apparently always suffering in GoT.

P.S. Random theory, based on no knowledge whatsoever - Daenerys is going to burn shit down in that slaver town. I feel that if shit gets too terrible, I'll be able to count on her to burn it down. That's my take on the end game - Daenerys and her dragons piling up the burnt debris of the rest of the world and setting a melty throne on top of it. Queen of all she surveys, and all she surveys is burnt down.

    So what does everyone think
What an episode eh? Danearys trogdoring the shit out of slavers, the bear getting stabbed, and the bastard doing his slow reveal...

    • CommentTimeApr 22nd 2013
@Scrymgeour: That about covers it. I also loved Varys' couple scenes.

Best bit for me was when
Dany started speaking Valyrian there was a quick cut to Missandei's head whipping around all "Oh shit..." .
    And then the burning...

I'm going to be mightily disappointed if the next episode doesn't begin with
Dany's whole army starving to death. Seriously, they don't even look like they have lunch with them.
