It is fall finale season. Justified and Fringe conclude this week and Community starts a two-part western-themed paintball extravaganza. This is exciting. I believe all fall shows are 1-3 episodes away from completion. Things might be a bit quiet around here for awhile.

I was impressed with Exile. Slow burn at the start, building to a vicious dark tale by the end. Top work from Simm & co and especially Jim Broadbent.
Next BBC drama to watch out for would be noir-tinged The Shadow Line, starts tomorrow: cast includes Christopher Ecclestone, Chiwetel Ejifor, Stephen Rea, Lesley Sharp, Rafe Spall, Antony Sher. -

Just starting are Treme, by the same team that did The Wire.
I, also, suggest The Borgias. If I had to describe it, I would call it a cross between Rome and The Tudors. -
The Justified finale maybe wasn't quite as action-packed as last year, but it was about as perfect a conclusion as one could have hoped. Plenty of clever resolutions, big moments and a some really interesting threads left to pull for next year.

Bump for the Fringe finale. Thoughts, everyone?So, obviously next season is going to focus on the two universes coming together to stop the tears appearing in both worlds while, most likely, dealing with some new threat. I'm wondering if cases of the week will just completely go out the window now, as I don't really see how they could continue to make them relevant while still maintaining the pace and consequence of the main storyline.
My immediate theory on the big what-the-fuck moment with Peter at the end is that he's essentially been the bridge all along. He existed solely to connect the two worlds, thus allowing them to both eventually reach a peaceful existence. However, this leaves two big questions:
1) What actually happened, and what does everyone now perceive to have happened?
2) Seeing as how they're not going to knock a main cast member off the show like that, how is Peter going to come back? -
Just watched Fringe finale too. O-OI figured they'd do something like that, but didn't predict the Peter part. I figured He'd snap back to the story's present and they'd just kill Walternate when he showed up or that he'd combine the universes into one. I remember reading somewhere online that Oliva's evil Step Dad would play a bigger part in Season 4 (may have be a thing for Season 3 though) so perhaps he'll be the new big bad when the new season starts and they get the Walternate issues ironed out?

SO, Fringe...
All sorts of theories around what happens next. The producers drop some hints here.Suggestion elsewhere (AV Club) that Peter has become an Observer. Not sure I'd buy that, but he'd look good in a snap-brim fedora.
My colleague Kevin of grinding.be notes, strongly, that the ending was pretty much identical to that of the under-rated Charlie Jade.
I loved how the Yin/Yang relationship of the worlds & Walters is explicitly mentioned - which makes Peter the Shen, the element of human consciousness which reconciles them.
Loved it. Would have been perfect end to whole series but I'm overjoyed there's at least one more to come. -

Well, they had a possible cancellation dangling over them at some point, didn't they? So my guess is they put everything into this finale to make it work either way. They should do this every year!I particularly like that they now have an explanation for the First People thing. 'Cause I've had my trouble buying that before.
On the other hand, do they? I mean, after Peter undid the future with the time hole in it? -

Thought explaining away the origin of the machine/first people arc at the end felt very tacked on and underdeveloped. Seems a lazy way out of what was becoming the main source of intrigue in the show (for me anyway). Plus, I hate closed loop time travel logic. -

I read some stuff recently...So if Peter never existed, then Faux-livia didn't get pregnant, right? And then she's still with her old boyfriend?
Also, Seth Gabel, aka Lincoln Lee is a regular cast member now...

Nerd jokes aside:I'm glad Lincoln is becoming a regular cast member. I was thrilled when he had his Universe 1 episode. Along those lines, I'd also love more Alt-Charlie Francis. The no Peter = no baby thing is something I've read about as well. I'd be fine with that, I wasn't a huge fan of that romantic plot tangle to begin with.
The dangling thread I'm wondering most about is the gentleman with the X shirt from LSD that Olivia said was going to kill her. He seemed less like a dream-construct and more like another mindjacker. -
I miss Olivia's sister. The second they decided to hook Peter up with Olivia instead, they completely forgot about her.

NBC rejects 'Wonder Woman'Well that was fun (to make fun of) while it lasted. EW has learned that NBC passed on the much buzzed-about Wonder Woman pilot from David E. Kelley and Warner Bros. TV.
Also not making the cut: Don Johnson’s return to TV in Mann’s World, a drama about a hairstylist, and the Civil War-era Western Reconstruction and Ron Moore’s magic cops drama 17th Precinct. -
I wish they hadn't canceled Lie to Me, it was good for expression reference. D: Now I have one less show to watch.

I figure since he already knows where she lives and she hasn't Seen him in years, he's been following her, and she just hasn't noticed, but her subconscious picked up on who it was. It'd be neat if it turned out like the Observers and he was in the background the whole time, but I don't think they've done that. ono -
@NeilaHmm I thought it wasn't her stepfather as he was a completely separate and overtly hostile entity in her mind. Maybe just another manifestion of him? If I'm recalling correctly, Peter mentioned him and that he was locked inside the zeppelin. He seemed distinguished enough that he seemed there was something more there.

Loved the Community season-ending 2-part paintballstravaganza... but did they really need Abed to bluntly say "We're moving into a Star Wars motif" after they did the full title crawl?
Plus, no woman has ever looked lovelier in orange paint than Alison Brie. -
