It's a big show for me, my main thing really. As an artist i'll be with the TX crew in our room, I believe it's the same space as last year, to the right of the main floor near the back. Won't have a new book of my own but will have some prints and old books, and doing some sketches maybe.
Ha, I walked down there today thinking that it was this weekend! I did an image for K6 Cards, proud sponsor of Sequential that I think is in your magazine but missed the deadlines for the big show so no booth for me. Will see you next Saturday though G'd luck!
I didn't know this was going down until I saw this thread, but now I do I see no reason not to pop by. That being the case, I'd have no problem meeting up with anyone there.
I'm hoping to go- I had an awesome time last year, and got some awesome sketches from Kagan McLeod and Cam Stewart. AND I also met OldHat! (whcih was the highlight of the day for sure!), but I'm not sure I'm gonna go yet. I'm booked for an all day drawing session at my LCS for Free Comic Day on the Saturday, and Sunday is Mother's Day (Ma lives far west of Toronto, and last year TCAF won the coin toss, so this year I should go and hang out with her, methinks ;)
If I could teleport there I'd go. That said, maybe some year I'd buy the plane tix and show up for the weekend. There's probably a friend of the family there that has a couch I can sleep on. But I've heard very good things about TCAF, so I'm somewhat bummed out that I didn't buy plane tickets. And it's like a 30 hour drive so no. (Toronto is south of me, which is very not fair. Oh well.) So best of luck for those who can go. Take pictures?
Hey HEY APATHY!, cool, i had not made the connect when Rafi mentioned your name at first, between here, that, and your old studio on Kensington market! Think you were always out when i was by there a few times but met your girlfriend and studio mates, and some of the neighbours down the hall. For sure and drop by to say hi.
ahhhh, I don't have a clear notion about a time for meeting myself, seems like there would only be three or four of us at this point so maybe just hit the main party? But if you guys plan something, let me know, not sure where i'll be when this second so hard to be decisive -- a but fuzzy head from a long night, it's all a blur here right now, up all night packing, have some last min errands to run today, then i'm on a bus and less connected for the next week. But if you all do pick a time, post it here or something, i'll try to be there if i can! If you want to find me on the floor i just posted a map here with our space marked.
some of the neighbours down the hall- those bastards caused me a lot of trouble, they were good people but not a place to do business as an artist. I had two real estate tycoons and a lawyer from City Hall show up to purchase murals from me and well, none of them ever spoke to me again! Oh well. See you on the weekend!
I just got back from the TCAF it was rocking. My word there were more people there than at some of the main stream conventions I attended last year. I saw Chester Brown and for once he was too busy signing & selling books to talk with! The whole place was packed it was actually really hard to check out the comics but I pushed my way around( as politely as possible) and saw tonnes of amazing drawings. No freaking way was I meant to be a spectator though, my agoraphobia got the best of me, ran for my life after about an hour and a half. Next year I’m getting a table fer sure!
my camera did something funky there? Couldn't find the SEQUENTIAL Booth (got confused in the chaos) hope you guys are having fun!
SEQUENTIAL didn't have a booth, i was in the TX room, jamie got a nice shot of me.
the magazine was left on the stage, by the door, and in various other places. Got snatched up fast despite being printed less than half the size it was supposed to be.
