So last Thursday I went back to my old university for the Rock Society Ghoul's Ball (big formal end-of-year party / major boozing session). Much beer was consumed and much banging of heads ensued. Which was awesome. What was not awesome was forgetting that I haven't headbanged(?) in a while and that I tend to do it fairly violently (I have a lot of hair, both length and thickness, and it takes a fair bit of effort to get it moving in a pleasing fashion).

Today... today I CAN MOVE AGAIN without random muscles in my back spasming, without feeling like my neck might shatter at any moment, without having to clutch at my lower back with one hand and shovel painkillers into my mouth with the other.

Just in time to go out on the town for a friend's birthday tonight and do it all again.

    Fuck.

My friend works with insects at an ecology lab on campus at UCSD and talked to her supervisor about getting me a spot there. I just heard from one of the PhD students running labs there and I get to start my orientation on Monday :D I will be doing lots of field and lab work with insects. I'm super excited.

Had my first Vampire class yesterday. After a fair bit of introductory trivia, we watched Nosferatu. Frigging classmates kept sniggering and outright laughing through the entire thing. I wanted to strangle them (more than usual, anyways). Still, it's a good movie, and I somehow managed to enjoy it despite their shenanigans.

@Morac: why are they taking the class except maybe just to be trolls? I hated when people did that at my school.

I just got an interview call with a job I actually want, and I'm gonna hand in my two-weeks for this damn place in about five minutes. Haaaaail Yesss.

Um...nothing has changed much in terms of my situation, but I guess I'm feeling better about it?

I picked up a book on money management that a friend of mine loaned me and hopefully it can bring some order to what little I make.

I'm also playing D&D tonight. New character created by my DM called High-Swinging Heidi. He insisted that I play this one. Here's hoping fun will happen!

I don't usually follow video blogs but the last month i've tried to
catch up on this guy, and this video below made me spew
    it was so sweet.

How young can you be to have your first crush? This little baby
boy's face freaks out at the sight of a little girl on youtube..

    "Baby Son's First Crush"

    He's also a nice dad....sickening.

    "Spoiled Kids"

Anyway, it sort of restored my faith in humanity.
Going through a protracted breakup. So the above
    negated alot of feelings.

Been getting back into programming, which I haven't really done since I left uni. There's something genuinely exciting about typing a bunch of lines, compiling and running and seeing something happen right in front of you. I mean, it's a horribly inelegant bit of nonsense hacked together from half-remembered Java lectures and online tutorials but still... I made a thing and it works!

I wish I could enjoy computer programming again. It used to be such a rush. Keep at it Nil and take a look at Ruby if you want something really cool.

I've actually seen Ruby mentioned in a few job listings, never got round to trying it. It does look like fun. Processing looks pretty cool too, and might be of interest to the artsy folks on here.

I have access to a limited woodshop. No pillar drill, but oh well. This means next week will see a whole lot of progress on building the guitar. (The Jazzmaster, not the monster of a Telecaster, yet.)

If these prototypes work out well enough for my liking, I may well start asking for commissions. You're on the list, mate. :)

(Which reminds me I really need to throw some money at offtandiscord and get him to build me something...)

Watched Neon Genesis Evangelion for the first time in 6 years. This time I hope to get past the first two dvds. It's better than I remember it being.

Made a Thirsty Wench post, made a Thirsty Wench Twitter account, checked out an AWESOME picture of me from the wonderful Lex Machina and I'm kind of looking forward to having a 1am burger tonight before going to film a person get their head chopped off on a farm.

And I made today's Station Indent! Hooray!

I've been asked to review cabaret and burlesque shows. It doesn't pay, but it's good fun. Here is the first post from yours truly:

Got my E3 badge in the mail today. Weird to think that I was 19 the last time I went to E3.
