I got pulled over by a cop for speeding and got off with a warning. I also finished putting together a budget spreadsheet for my checking account complete with it doing the adding and subtracting for me. I know it's simple but it feels impressive, ok? Also, this will help me get closer to finally moving out and renting an apartment. And last, all the cds and one of the books I ordered have arrived in the mail already.

A Belgian stout? They make those?

    I'm 'avin one.

Today begins the last two weeks at my soul-numbing, plastic-smile-welded-onto-my-face, don't-know-what-the-shit-I'm-doing-even-after-four-months-working-here, but-apparently-neither-does-anyone-else-because-they-all-elected-me-team-leader, shit-pay-even-with-too-many-hours, constantly-covering-other-people's-shifts, always-coming-home-smelling-like-mulch-and-sweat-and-soil-and-grass (worse-when-it-rains-which-it-has-ceaselessly-for-the-past-five-days), no, seriously, fuck-this-place... job. I have already started counting the hours.

You know, when I was a teenager, I raided my Dad's video porn collection and found a copy of Naked Lunch. I assume he thought it was a porno. I imagine he was very disappointed when he watched it. I took it, and I doubt he ever noticed it was missing.

@govspy, from what you've told us about your dad, that's not at all surprising.

A "second half of Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas" kinda funny, I'm guessing?

It was my birthday yesterday. I received many good things, including bottles of Tormore and Glenfiddich. Never heard of Tormore until yesterday, and GODDAMN is it fucking delicious. Fruity, smooth and one of those whiskies that I could drink forever/until passing out in my underwear after screaming curse words at my genitalia.

Whilst grocery shopping I also bought Marston's Oyster Stout, Brakspear's Oxford Gold, Cains Fine Raisin Beer and... another beer that I don't remember at the moment. My girlfriend also bought me a lot of Iain Banks books, including The Crow Road, and I am very much looking forward to reading them all.

Was up in LA yesterday afternoon through this evening. Had voice class and then my play. Voice class was a blast and I tried a couple of new things and they seemed to go over relatively well. So huzzah there. Today we closed the play. Huzzah. After the play a few of us went to a local amazingawesomewonderful Korean place down the street (Sanjang for Angelenos), sat around the fire pit with our seafood bowls, bulgogi, dukbukki, squid salad and sake (because...of course) and laughed and told stories and I even talked about about my dream TV show that's so pie-in-the-sky I'm best off calling it a day dream than even an aspiration.

Home now and I should get back to studying Japanese, but I keep smelling the woodsmoke in my clothes and smiling.

So, um, after being miserably broken up for quite some time, I landed in Montreal and may be madly in like with two different people. Which, I will grant, has the ability to be very inconvenient, but it is just so utterly unexpected to find myself emotionally attracted to someone that I felt it was worth mentioning.

Which is not at all said to imply that I expect anything more than maybe a summer fling to come from either, but, like I said, not at all how I expected this trip to start.

(yesterday) I drank absinthe while I watched a woman dance on stage with an albino snake; I felt like I was living in From Dusk Til Dawn!

(today) I made friends with people at the train station while waiting for my ride, and was given a bag of salvia, which I've never before tried.

I got an A in another class!

I'm off to Spain this Sunday, I'm in Madrid, Toledo and a few other cities for 9 days.

    This makes me happy.
