    Just got some editorial feedback, doing a bit of final reworking before I submit. I did get a little distracted by my ceiling suddenly leaking water everywhere, but that's mostly taken care of now.

    I mad rushed a short one based on an old gag with added backstory and extra evilness.
    The I went silly with my bio because I absolutely hate doing them. I have a plan for a non-rushed job. Just trying to see if it will come under 1000 words right now.

    Hey ya'll. I'm happy to report that I've received 17 short stories from many and varied sources. I'll be adding about 15 of my own. That's 32+ stories gonna be kickin through. I'm as happy as a pig in shit with how this has worked out so far. It's going to take a couple of months to get everything laid out and edited, but I'll keep you all posted here and at my website (

    @Alan - Absolutely, as long as I get them before I do the final layout, I'll include them.

    Glad you asked and sorry about the delay in response. As of right now, I'm just about done with initial edits on the stories (just little grammatical stuff here and there). I still want to write one or two more of these myself, so if anyone is interested in sending another story, feel free, I can still include them. By next Sunday I want to be ready to start laying it out into it's final form. That'll probably take me about a week or so. After that we're technically ready to publish.

    If anyone has any cover ideas they'd like to contribute, I'd love to see them. I refuse to put a generic cover on this book. Failing getting submissions, I have a few ideas for photos that might work as a cover.

    Thanks for the patience on this, guys. I should be on this thread a bunch more in the near future.

    Steevo: lost things as a theme sounds interesting. I happen to have an idea for a cover. What is the deadline for the mag? and the specs (size, title, text that needs to be on there?) My inbox (cs dot denouden at gmail dot com) awaits yon answer. That is, if you're still in search of a cover artist.

    @Yskaya - Awesome! I've somehow become slightly drunk today (is that unprofessional?), so I will email you specifics tomorrow.

    I'll also post those specifics up here in case anyone else wants to send a submission. Hell, maybe I'll get really ambitious and make alternate cover versions available if I get a bunch of cool stuff...

    Now to continue my drunk. I'll talk to you all on the morrow.

    @Alan - Got it! Thanks.

    @All -

    These are the parameters I sent to Yskaya, if anyone else is interested.

    The cover is going to be for a 6x9 book through Lulu. As far as I know, that's the size that the image will be. I'm not really sure how one deals with bleeds and trims and things like that. The following site is kind of a walkthrough on how to develop a cover for this size of book:, if you're interested. I read through it once and was slightly dumbfounded.

    Anywho, the text on the cover should be "Out of Place, Out of Time: An Odd Collection of Short Stories"

    The deadline is not a set in stone thing, but I should be coming to the end of doing the book layout a couple of weeks from now. Let's say August 15th.

    Hey allana,

    I've done a decent amount of the editing already. I'm really only looking to correct grammar and spelling errors, not make any changes to the stories themselves. That said, I could always use an extra set of eyes on this stuff. I'm sure I've missed a few things here and there. You can email me at steevo83 [at] gmail and I'll forward some of them your way.

    PS. If anyone has, for any reason, a problem with someone other than me looking at their story before it goes into the book, let me know and I'll withhold it until the book comes out.

    Hey everyone,

    Just thought I'd update you on the progress with this.

    As of right now, we've got 30 stories: 12 by me and 18 by the rest of you beautiful bastards. I think I'm going to do five more, I have ideas for three. Those should be done within a week or two.

    I've also read all of your stories and they're fantastic. If I had anything I was slightly confused about, I contacted you and you got back to me. I've done the initial edits on all of them, which isn't to say I'm completely done editing, but I think I've gotten the hard part out of the way.

    I've started doing the layout of the book, how I'm doing it is this:
    1) Laying everything out in Word, getting font sizes and types uniform, setting up spacing, writing up a table of contents, getting the page numbers right, including all author bios, writing a copyright page, and a bunch of other little stuff that is always a pain, but ya know...I asked for it.
    2) Converting everything to PDF and uploading to Lulu's site.
    3) Uploading the cover.
    4) Book!

    I'm going to make this available in 6x9 paperback and ebook. Is anyone interested in any other formats?

    Any advice for me on this? Any questions? Anything at all. You can get me here or at steevo83 [at] gmail [dot] com

    Hey guys, just want to keep you updated on this, since I'm behind schedule. I had to pick up a second job because I can't afford to pay rent with my shitty first one, so life has been a little more hectic lately. I want you to know that I'm still working on this, it's just a little slower going than I had anticipated, due to a lot more work related crap. Anyway, I'm still figuring out my schedule so I don't want to give you a hard date that I'll wantonly ignore, I'm hoping this will be ready for print "soon." As always, if you need to contact me, just email or leave a message here or on my blog.

    @Vornaskotti - Thanks, but I think I'm good for now, just making the going a little slower. I'll let you know if I think of anything to expedite the process though.
