Alright, folks, so how about this:

Getting There: A Supershort Story Collection

The theme: Travel, transition, changes, all in media res. No origins, no destinations, just the journey, just mile markers.

The limit: 1,500 words (I'll give folks a bit more leeway with this one, but still well-below the usual "short story" limit.

I'll do one story and an introduction, and I've got an idea for the cover, though by it's nature I can't make it until I know who all will be joining us on this fine adventure.

Stories can be sent to me via universalconstants (all one word) at the google mail daht kham.

    What is the deadline?
  1.  (9872.3)
Alan -- I like it. I'll have it jingle around in my head for a day or three and see if I can come up with anything.
PS: I haven't received an e-mail from you about how to edit e-books. Did you want me to write one up for you still?
PPS: I'm up for getting any collections ready for sale on Amazon. Let me know if you want me to for this one.

    I'm in. Deadline, plz.

Deadline: Let's say first drafts by the 20th of February, finals by the 1st of March. That way we can spend April formatting and editing, and hopefully have something out around Easter?

@Warped Savant: Sorry man, I got a bit down in the dumps this last week and completely forgot. I'll shoot you one right now.

Should we maybe start a new thread for this?

We can do that, or if steevo's okay with it, maybe we can just change the title of this one to Whitechapel Quarterly, or something like that?

Whitechapel Quarterly.I like the sound of that.I get the feeling from reading this thread that there is something good going down and it's cool to see people working together. It really is.

Hopefully one day i may get to contribute something.Shit,it would be a blast even just trying.

    Keep it up!!

I'm in (if I make the standard).

Quick clarification: In medias res, with or without the flashbacks? I got confused when you put, 'No origins,' On reflection I believe you just meant no origin story/needless history snippets, but wanted to be clear in my own mind as I tend to confuse easily.

PS: I used to post under, Mhengla, but got rather sick of that name, just in case anyone wondered who the heck I am.

Oh, no, I don't mean you have to use the technical meaning of in media res, I just mean it should be after the journey, transition, or whatever, has already started, and before it has ended.

EDIT: Wow, I'm not even sure what I was trying to type, right there. Sweet rollers, what am I doing editing ANYTHING?
  4.  (9872.11)
OK, thanks for the clarification, I'll get started on something this weekend. I didn't see what you had to edit, so I think you're pretty safe on that side of things. A good editor fixes the bloopers before they get noticed, so mission accomplished! ;)
  5.  (9872.12)
@Alan -- Instructions sent. Might be a little wordy... I didn't edit myself and I'm not good at writing directions. Let me know if there's anything that I wasn't clear about.

    Sounds good.
I'll get me thinking cap on

Hey guys, sorry about the lull. I've been out of Internet for 2 days. Alan, I love the theme. Thread title changed, obviously. I need to start writing.

Story 1 plotted and one tenth complete. Is there a max number of submissions?

I'm gonna say, let's limit it to two. The more stories the better, obviously, but I'd like a nice bit of variety of authors, as well.

I'm in again, if youll have me. Will have something out to you within a week or two.

300 words done, I'm liking where I'm going. I also blogged about Out of place, Out of Time.

Am I too late to offer for this? (need something to discipline me to working this week! Plus, well... )

I'm just starting to fill my head with the epub stuff... but I am a damn good sub-ed so happy, nay, keen to help out in that sense as well.
