Beamish: I checked my spam folder to see if it wound up there, too, but it doesn't look like it did. Can you resend it?
Also, Rob, my gmail is apparently just made of derp today, and I couldn't find your email again to send you back some edits. Can you send me one more, just so I can get your address?
@Anchorbeard - I'm setting a hard deadline for myself for this weekend, you'll have at least one, hopefully 2 rough drafts from me by Sunday.
I can also send an email blast to everyone who contributed to OOP, OOT about this if you'd like (should've done it sooner...dropped the ball on that, sorry!). Are we sticking to the original Feb. 20 deadline for roughs at this point or is that getting pushed back at all?
@steevo: Sounds good! I'd love to get the old crew in on this. Can't wait to see your piece!
Because I want to get a few more submissions (I'd like at least ten, counting my own) I think I'll push it back to, say, March 10th. That should give people a little more elbow room, hopefully.
I am not sure if it will be of any use to you in this particular project but i have a picture you might want to look at, is it ok to post a copy up on my Flickr page under a CC license or would you prefer me to e-mail you a copy directly, in which case is it still the universalconstants at the evil empire dot communist? There is also the vanishingly small chance of a short written piece, though the way things are going you are more likely to receive that by flying pig than e-mail. My e-mail address can be found without too much effort should you need to contact me.
Finally found a story worth hunting. Nets and long-ranged weaponry are packed and loaded, respectively. I'll let you know if I manage to catch it and prepare something tasty.
Hey, when you get the chance please can you chuck up a list of who you've already received stories from so anyone who's still unsure can do re-subs as required before the 10th, thanks. Hope you're feeling better.
@DistractDelude: I have received and edited the following:
"Shore Leave" "The Deepest Man" "The Robot Was" "Visions"
I KNOW that more people have submitted stories, but my email has been a bit on the fritz, what with sticking mail in the spam folder or sometimes just not receiving mail at all.
So, here's what I'm going to do. I have just set up a new email account specifically for this project and its future iterations: Whitechapelquarterly at geemail dot com. After Getting There is completed and the next editor comes on, I'll send the password to them, and they can then use that email. This will, I hope, keep an online record of all past stories and conversations regarding same. An oral history, if you will, of Whitechapel Quarterly.
If you've submitted a story to my normal email but it's not up on that list, please resend it to the new WQ email. I'm really sorry for the inconvenience, guys. If all goes according to plan, I should have a pretty quiet weekend coming up, so I'll have time to edit anything sent my way.
Remember also that March 10 is just the deadline for FIRST DRAFTS. If you put a story together on the 9th (or hell, early on the 10th before I check my mail :p ), it'll still get in. Hell, I haven't even been able to start my own story, so if you have a title and a blinking cursor, you're already way ahead of the editor!
@Beamish: By all means, Jason. Again, my condolences. Looking forward to reading your new piece!
Thanks for the update. I like the idea of there being a record of these as well, the idea of a documented history of publication appeals to the historian/collector in me!
