Since I've always approached comics with the mindset that the only canon continuity is whatever is needed to explain what is going on in the exact issue I am reading, this whole thing doesn't phase me much. To be honest, aside from the stuff Morrison was doing with Batman and a couple miscellaneous titles, there wasn't a great deal of interesting stories going on in the DCU. Clearing out the muck and starting fresh is something that should and does happen on a regular basis and, yes, we're losing some cool things because of it. But we're getting Cornell on a bunch of great titles, Morrison on Superman, he still gets to finish his Batman arc, Jeff Lemire on Animal Man, JL Dark... Lots of goodies coming from this. And, to be honest, the moment they announced the Flash accidentally running into an alternate universe, we should have known the jig was up.
You know what happened the first time the Flash did something like this? That's right. Crisis on Infinite Earths. We should feel lucky that red fucker didn't blow up the other 51 universes with his little jaunt this time. Same god damn Flash, too. He has a terrible problem doing things like this.
Here's something I've been wondering for the last couple days. They have Constantine, Swamp Thing and the rest of the Vertigo heroes back under the DCU brand. But still, there's something I miss. Do you think DC's plan was to have a Watchmen #1 on shelves next September? I think that would make sense, considering the rumours of a Watchmen sequel a few months ago.
Also, the lack of a Floronic Man #1 is simply disappointing.

I doubt it. A new Watchmen comic would go nowhere. The first couple issues would sell like hotcakes, but then everyone would remember that what makes Watchmen really matter is that it was a brilliant exploration and comment on the medium that was totally relevant at the time and is unnecessary today. In the long run I think the DC bean counters can probably figure out that continued sales of the original TPB are worth far more than a few sudden sales blips from a sequel that's doomed to fail unless they can convince Alan Moore to write it.
Anyone who worked on any hypothetical object of that nature would be so shat on by the creative community, if not the audience, that they wouldn't work again for a long, long time.
Grant will take his shots at Alan from time to time, but even Grant wouldn't do that, even as a joke.
It occurred to me the other day how most DC characters have "sigils" on their chests and they have been charging them up to this point to get them ready to withstand the advancement of the 21st Century but even Morrison would probably think that's total BS and this entire circus really is just a big marketing circle jerk. I do like the new Supergirl out of all the shit-tastic redesigns though!
I like the facial expression on the new Supergirl most. She has the look of a person I'd enjoy reading about. A complete lack of faith in DC means I'll be checking the reviews first, though.
Wait, Apollo and Midnighter are part of the DC lineup now? Huh. Since... 2007, apparently, according to Wikipedia. I guess I should read more comics or something, amirite guys?
Based on the weird panelling on their costumes and the nature of the Superboy cover, I've seen speculation that this version of Kryptonian life may not be entirely organic.
