There's currently a live broadcast - both on TV and online - of the entire five-and-a-half-day journey a Norwegian cruise/transport ship is making from Bergen to Kirkenes, stopping by pretty much every harbor along the way. The Norwegian national broadcast channel has devoted one of its channels to this for the entirety of the run, no interruptions.

Child of Eden came out, and while it's very pretty, I can't help but thinking how much better the music was in Rez. So I went and found this-

Okay. These are just devastating, so proceed with that knowledge.

Last statements from death row inmates.

They are probably also the most important thing you've read in a while.

I've been active on Goodreads for a few years. Here's my favorite review of a beloved book.

Thus, I had serious issues with "Monster at the End of this Book". I was always very ill at ease with Grover, anyway. He caused terrible problems for everyone he encountered, and almost never showed remorse. Also, he couldn't seem to communicate without shouting and gesticulating wildly. I had real problems with the way he carried himself, so I knew going into the book that I probably wasn't going to like it much. What I didn't expect was to be profoundly affected, to the point of tears and sleepless nights, by a drawing of Grover [...]

@Kelind - Don't mention it. I rarely feel I've linked to something important, but damn. I admire the purity of that collection. No editorialising, just the last statements.

Don't get me wrong, gang, I'm no ardent supporter of death row, but pardon me if I'm not shocked that there are some convicted criminals that say "I didn't do it." I'm aware that innocent people have been put to death (here in Texas more than most, I'm sure), but don't fall for every con that has a sob story about how there was a conspiracy to convict innocent men. Every con I know says something to the effect of, "I'm innocent of what they put me in here for, but I'm not innocent."

Totally not trying to go off thread here, but I can't sit by and watch the pity party for convicted murderers. If need be, I'm sure a thread could be made to discuss the death penalty and it's (many) flaws.

EDIT: I hope it's understood that I am not trying to be argumentative or combative; merely a (personal, realistic and less idealistic, and admittedly somewhat anecdotal) counterpoint to the links that have been shared. If a discussion is warranted, I would like to move it elsewhere for the sake of keeping away from arse eels.
