    Pop history #22.

Vendetta. One of the original platform based fighting games, Vendetta was released in 1991. Features included random objects which could be collected and thrown at enemies, the ability to kick and beat opponents while they lay stunned on the ground, and eight different weapons which could be either taken from opponents or found lying about in the street. Vendetta was also somewhat . . . . politically incorrect in its original incarnation, and was censored for release outside the Japanese market.

I've seen TCSM:TNG. A few of my friends rented it years ago, must've been '95 or so. I hated every moment of it and it's one of the only films that made me feel dirty watching it and I've seen such shite as Max Payne.

@Greasemonkey - there's a similar boss in the third Streets of Rage game on the Genesis that was cut from the non-Japanese versions of the game.
    Can't imagine why...
Happens a lot, some Japanese developers seem to find camp gay stereotypes really amusing for some reason.

Just in case you never got to enjoy them back then...

My brother and I found this pic and a couple of other ones of my parents worshiping Satan in 1966.

That's awesome. Though a tad disappointing that they were just faking it.

@Flabyo - probably because Japan doesn't have as visible a gay subculture as we in the West do, so leather gays are a weird novelty for the Japanese.

@Flabyo further to Greasmonkey's point: I saw it and thought of Hard Gay as a reflection of Japanese pop culture views of the leather gay subculture.

From the Department of Wait What? comes this:

The Berlin Wall as a homeopathic remedy.

Pretty fascinating, but possibly not in the sense intended by the writer...
