I found a source for my beloved La Fin Du Monde, a beer that all LCBOs in the province no longer hold. And I am nicely tipsy.

I also saw Bridesmaids, which was absolutely wonderful.

    > I found a source for my beloved La Fin Du Monde

    So, where's that then?

Someone told me about "Faxe" recently: a 500ml can of 10% beer from The Beer Store, 6 cans for about $20, each can therefore being about as strong as a 1/2 bottle of wine. A remarkable achievement, to be sure, if you mostly just like alcohol, but I'd greatly prefer the treat of the taste of La Fin Du Monde again.

    > I also saw Bridesmaids

I saw _La Quattre Volte_. It was ... sparser than I imagined. I thought it would be more ... explicit. I'd like to find nice things to say about it: it was ... different; the ... explanation of how to create charcoal was interesting; ... I thought that the dog wasn't as good an actor as the critics had given me to believe (he didn't look "worried" at all). It was, apparently, some kind of "art film". I ... kind of enjoyed it. It was worth every one of (well, many of ... several of) its 88 minutes.

What the film critics' giving it four stars, their saying, "I've suffered for my art: now it's your turn"?

    Ah well.

After that I saw "Eat, Pray, Love" on DVD. The actress has a nice smile, and seeing the scenery was somewhat educational (I've lived in Italy, never seen India or Bali).

@Fan, It's at a Beer Store just about half a block or so south of Spadina/Bloor (on Spadina). They also have La Trois Pistoles and the other brews from Unibroue that the LCBO just don't carry anymore (for reasons that the brewery itself hasn't been able to give me). All in six packs which run for about $12.

ugh, I gained a couple pounds the last couple weeks. It's the end of my college career (hooray!), so I gave in to a combination of stress-eating and "aw, for old times sake" eating. BUT, that being said, I'm back on a healthy eating track again, woohoo!

My boyfriend and I had dinner with my parents Tuesday night to discuss my moving in with him, which my mom is totally fine with, but my dad was being a dad about it. Edgar actually took it really well, but I was all awkward sauce the whole time. But I survived and now it's over with and I get to live with my love in the best area in San Diego (Hillcrest, it's the gay neighborhood, lots of fun stuff to do, and you can walk/bike/bus everywhere, no car needed) ^_^

I went to a lecture and signing by Michael Shermer. I didn't get any great shots, but I did meet people at the shindig afterwards. Yay for being social!

Middle bro took me out. We had dinner (I had paella *NOM*), drinks and talked about all sorts of things. Then we saw the new X-Men and enjoyed it well enough even if it was formulaic and both of us had issues with some of the physics. I know, I know... timemoat... but still, they had a dude jump out of a moving jet. My MB was airborne infantry; he knows from jumping out of flying vehicles. }:>

Really good evening over here. }:>

This morning I was worrying about not having enough money to get around much while I'm in NYC next week. So far the amount I had was about $40. I was kind of depressed about this on my way to the office.

When I got to the office, my dad called saying that I got two cheques from the government in the mail. I asked him to open them up. One is $250 and the other is $260. $510 I can now breathe a bit easier in New York.

I love it when things like that happen.

As for yesterday, I had another amazing workout at Toronto Newsgirls Boxing Club. At the end a few of us stayed behind and talked and one woman walked to the station with me. I think...I think I'm making friends there now.

Also! I was told that there were two women that were about my height and weight class that are looking for sparring partners other than themselves! This makes me ridiculously happy as I really want to get in the ring!

    This is a good June,

I just got a new job, it pays lots more than the old job, and the project I will be working on is about 50 times cooler. I start monday!

The new job also opens the door for even better news - I can afford my own place again, yay for moving out of tiny window basement room into classy digs I can actually live in. With a nice big kitchen.

    So yes, vile hugs!

The Thirsty Wench post I did on my trip to Flying Monkeys Craft Brewery got posted on the brewery's twitter, which makes me feel pretty nifty.

Also, the Blockbuster near me is closing down and selling everything at 30%. I figured now was the best time to finally get Dragon Age: Origins.

For now, I'm off to play that and have what may very well be the last Black Creek Porter in the city.

I find myself utterly exhausted after a several days long user group conference, then a night out at the coast with my coworkers, but my presentation to the data geeks and enviro-nerds was well received and I'm home again. Feels glorious.

Just found out that the inmates on my unit have a nickname for me: Wolverine.

Considering other guys have nicknames like Family Guy/Peter Griffin, Chuck Norris, and Wildebeest/Beast, I feel alright about it.

All my work seems to be paying off with the young stallion I've been training - took him to a dressage show today and came home with a 3rd, a 4th, and a 1st. Wicked. My filly stopped trying to buck me off, and when she does buck, I finally have some measure of control over her now. It's pretty awesome to be able to actually stay on the horse and keep her fuzzy-side-up. Even better, we won her division at the NNEP Horse Trials last weekend! Good things =)
Also, my beer soap finally got here! That "Sex Panther" stuff is awesome, and @Oldhat hit it on the nose in her review of the soap.

Pleasantly exhausted after a weekend of lawn mowing, tree cutting, and playing chauffeur for the grandchild. The dead ash tree that was threatening the garage is now down and mostly cut up, as is the smaller dead one behind it. Granddaughter was allowed to watch the felling of the trees, and exclaimed "Grampy! That's amazing!" It's so easy to be impressed when you're three. :-)

Anyway, all the branches are removed, cut, and either burned or stacked, depending on their condition. Most of the trunk is cut up, but the rest will have to wait for a new chainsaw blade. Dead ash and oak are pretty hard on those things.

I now sit enjoying a nice light dinner, catching up on a few web sites, and being amused at the English language. Funny, isn't it, how a description like "cut the trees down, cut the trees up" is accepted without a blink, but "cut the trees down and up" make people have to stop and think.

that and I jsut finished packing up my stuff in my college apartment, now I just gotta move it out. I also scored a great volunteer position at an aquarium doing sea horse husbandry, only downside is it's on Saturday mornings and I have to get up at 5:30 to make it there on time by bus. Ew.

Congrats Argos! And seahorse husbandry? Don't let the new barkeep around here learn of that. I hear he has a thing for aquatic animals.
