School has been out for about a week here. I took a few days off of work to spend with my young daugher and do "summer vacationy" kind of things before she starts summer camp. I'm back to work today feeling a little sunburned and sleep deprived (what can I say - I'm too old to hang with my six year old daughter at night - she's loving the fact that I agreed to hold "bedtime" in abeyance this week).

And also with school being out I'm finding out that the local pre-teens have developed the annoying habit of ringing my doorbell at 11 pm at night and running off into the dark. I tried just blowing it off at first, but they've been at it about 4 nights in a row at this point. I flipped my lid last night and screamed into the dark that the lot of them should get girlfriends and quit being skulky loosers. I then concieved about a half-dozen nefarious plots which ranged from rigging my doorbell up with razor blades and/or elecrtric shocks to flourescent paint which would allow me to track the buggers back to where they live. After a night of reflection, though, I think I'll take the less aggressive route of disconnecting my doorbell after 9 pm. I fear that the shouting is entertaining to them and is exactly what they're shooting for, and the razor blades/electric shots have too much potential to attract law suits (besides, I was a kid once too). My work week starts today. first off trying to figure out how exactly to handle a traffic ticket. Won't be cheap or easy but it's looking like my best plan may be to drive up to the court and throw myself on whatever mercy I find there. Last ditch desperation that may just result in the same "allowances" I already have of a two month extension. Like that'll make the money some how appear when I'm unemployed and already in debt. My week has been made more interesting by the threat of legal action from the Strata company over a few thousand dollars of unpaid strata fees. There are times that being charmingly absent minded can be a real disadvantage. But hey, I have the money, it's just a pain to see it vanish when my bank account was actually starting to look nice and healthy for once.

Odds are the officer won't show up, and you'll be rescheduled. If it happens enough the ticket gets thrown out. Keep showing up; tickets are written with the idea in mind most people don't want to lose money for taking a day off off work, and it's easier/cheaper to just pay the ticket.

Also, if you do have to deal with the actual judge, and plan on not fighting the ticket itself, and beg for mercy of the court, I always suggest to admitting the error, based on a making a simple (or dumb) mistake, an honest apology, and stuff like that.

With the new episode I decided to join the forum... and I guess I'm a wee bit behind the curve, cuz now I read in like the second thread I open that this movie has a scheduled end, and now I'm just FREAKING OUT cuz I got involved right at the end. Just like I did with Firefly, and Torchwood, and... and...

Anyways. Just wanted to let you guys know... you're an incredible team, and yes I know... all good things,etc. And I'm really gonna miss FreakAngels when their story's done, but I'm also going to be looking forward to whatever you decide to do in the future. You guys give us readers something to look forward to at the end of a long, hard day... and I don't know how to say how valuable a thing that is in this crazy age. Thank you.
