Weird - I was just starting to enjoy this site yesterday, and when I go try it just now, it says it's "US Only". Lovely.

    (I'm in Canadia)

    Same :(

It seems like the best way to enjoy the site is to find a "DJ" whose taste you can really agree with. Though unless you know someone outside of Turntable.fm, it'd be tough to discover a DJ you think is worth following.

If you're just flipping between rooms (as I ended up doing yesterday), it's quicker and easier just to do the same in iTunes radio (or similar).

Still, man. I want back in.

I got that too. Well..I figured it was only a matter of time before someone stepped in. I'm sure on my end here in Canada, CRIA gave them a threatening e-mail.

    Sigh.

In there now. Playing BEDOUIN SOUNDCLASH's Gunships, KENICKIE's Come Out 2Nite and BLACKLISTED's Our Apartment Is Always Empty.

    Confirmed: turntable.fm is now US-only.

I hope it's not forever. I was beginning to be seriously addicted to this service.

It makes sense that it happened. It was essentially a more user-driven Pandora and look where that went. Then again, are the Pandora folks even trying to sort out those issues anymore?

I hope they get International users back in to it because it's a great connection tool, but I'm not holding out much hope.

I am sad. I was developing quite a following (and a natty cat suit) Djing in the Funky Beats room. :( I tried it throught a US-based proxy, but it didn't work, I guess Facebook has identifiers that tell them where in the world you are.

Any clever techies have a work around for this?

It figures that by the time I find out about something this awesome, some fucker has already gone to great lengths to prevent me from using it.

Balls. I tried a couple of proxy things, but probably because of the necessity of linking with facebook I couldn't get it going. I will cross my fingers, but I won't hold my breath. It looked like there were a lot of Japanese users on that thing, so I'm sure there's a lot of people over here missing out.

I rather liked this because it was all very colourful, light-hearted, and a grand mechanism for finding new music, which is occasionally harder than it looks. Very entertaining when people were attempting to be "serious" DJs. Appears Turntable shit themselves and went back to writing their homework before their parents came in and beat them, and to be frank, I find license issues like this a little more than infuriating. Trying to find a work-around

I had the brilliant idea to have a post-apocalypse night... after they shut out the non-US folk. It just wouldn't be the same w/out oldhat and icelandbob.

Still, anyone interested in setting aside a night for a theme?

(ETA: Oh, man, I totally forgot you had started the muxtape thing, oldhat! Seems like ages ago...)

Britt, I actually started them. But Bob did a damn fine job of keeping it going.

I'm going to try and see if there's some kind of proxy magic we could do to magically transform us into Americans.

The fella was on there earlier and said he talked to a girl in Ireland who was able to bypass the guards w/ a proxy, but of course, since she was on there, she didn't go into detail.

So I guess it can be done?

Changing your country on FB doesn't do the trick, and Facebook authentication doesn't work (at least for me) over a proxy.

    Going to keep looking...
