There is certain jiggy-pokery that can be done to spoof the geographical gating. I'm on a computer right now that is using Tunnelblick (which is an OpenVPN GUI for Mac) and it is successfully running Turntable.
The bad news is that this computer isn't mine, so I don't have exact instructions for replication, nor can I take it home with me. But it can be done.
I've thrown down a few tunes in the Whitechapel room if anyone wants to join me.
EDIT: This also confirms that Facebook information has nothing to do with the gating process, as mine still states that I live in Canada.
oh! to my surprise I got back in. after dicking around yesterday with proxy stuff, I googled "access us only websites" and used the service recommended in the first hit. It seems to involve ads, but I'm a reckless kinda guy like that, and it works, which everything I tried yesterday didn't.
so im confused: 1) do i or do i not need The FaceBook to do this? 2) how quick is their upload? this seems fun, but i REALLY dont have the time to waste on uploading a bunch of shit 3) i want to get in here just to go lay waste to the '3 minutes' or less room :)
@ sneak - if you're using hotspot shield, try using it to log in then turning it off. That seemed to work for me. Once I was 'over the wall' or 'under the fence' if you will, I didn't seem to need it.
joe: 1. Yes, you need FB. You can make a shitty profile you're never going to use again except for turntable, but that's the only way in (for now, hopefully). 2. I haven't had any problems w/ uploading; the fella did, but we were on the same internet connection running turntable at the same time, so I think that had more to do w/ it than anything.
I have found a better way to get in, uploading works perfectly, and it doesn't fill your browser with ads. Don't wanna post it up here, just in case the TTFM bods happen to google it and close the loophole. PM me if you need help getting in from out of the US.
