Even though I've come back to the page more than once, news coverage and cultural signals rearrange the relative size of different countries in my head into something very different than reality
Followup question: what does Poland have to do to get more news-share? I think Poland should start going out with Brad Pitt.
@SBarrett - The US is incredibly inefficient at using its area (in the portions that actually have people living in them; a huge part of the country is literally nothing but open field, mountains, or desert) and it is, per capita, much more well off and thus people aren't *forced* to be in constant close quarters.
What is more mind-boggling is how the US can easily feed all the people in those countries but it refuses to, and would rather have grain rot in a parking lot than give it to people that can use it.
Those pesky Creationists get hoist by their own petard, thanks to the combined awesomeness of 1. A GENIUS, 2. "CREATION SCIENCE" hahaha no seriously that's what they call it, and 3. MOTHERFUCKING DINOSAURS.
@rickiep00h - I distinctly remember what happened to the vast majority of food aid the US sent to countries during the nineties: It sat on tarmacs and in warehouses, rotting. Or, the officials of those countries kept if for themselves, never distributing to those who needed it. Or it was resold for a profit by the same officials. Or a combination thereof
It's not an easy task to feed the world and it's mind-boggling that anyone thinks it is.
Having just come back from Mexico City, I can easily believe that it has the same population as Australia. It just seems to go on forever and ever and ever...
@johnjones We fit into pakistan quite snugly, thank you very much ;) still plenty of enexplored uninhabited areas. But seriously, i read somewhere that if all of humanity were to stand huddled in one large mass, it would cover a surface area equivalent to that of Los Angeles
