    In Japan they have 'divorce ceremonies,' in other words weddings for divorces.

    However, there are a few key differences apart from the obvious outcome. A divorce dress, for instance, differs from a wedding dress in the details. Miki Saito chose a yellow color for her dress and the dress's designer, Akiue Go, gave the gown divorce-specific attention, saying, "I designed this dress so the woman's back looks the most beautiful when she turns around and walks away."


    Sounds like a good idea. In the US we can take it even further for example a morman man is divorcing one of his wives but one of his other wives pounds on the glass at the ceremony and they run off and get divorced instead.

    Pop history #24.

    R-Type. 1987 classic side-scrolling shooter with a level of artistry rarely seen in arcade games. This was a fucking hard game to win, but it was worth it just to watch the pretty visuals.

    The game in this clip appears to be from the home console version, with lower-res graphics than the arcade game.

    If you only read one thing today read this. It's about a fraudster called Pearlasia Gamboa (amongst other things) and is tremendously entertaining.

    "Gamboa is the past president of the Dominion of Melchizedek, an enigmatic island nation in the South Pacific. Leaders associated with Melchizedek — named after a holy man who makes a brief appearance in the Book of Genesis — say it is an ecclesiastical state similar to the Vatican, with its own laws and religion. However, it has never received diplomatic recognition from most countries, which may be because the atoll claimed as its territorial capital lies underwater at high tide. And the prominence of convicted con artists in the upper echelons of Melchizedekian government raises questions about the country's legitimacy and true purpose."

    It gets waaay better from there, but I don't want to spoil it for anyone.
