While Westminster City Council are a bunch of killjoys, it seems that the staff at Bristol City Council are well prepared for a zombie apocalypse.
Someone has a sense of humour:
Top tip for personal development: Staff fully qualified in zombie handling may qualify for partial exemption and accreditation in the training for handling pirate outbreaks, and for spotting the difference between genuine hot air balloons and evil giant floaty space aliens. Speak to your departmental Learning Development Partner for more details.

News of the World to close on Sunday.

Excuse me while I take all of my clothes off and dance in the street with a bottle of vodka.

    FUCK News International.

The News of the World closing is an attempt to stop a PR clusterfuck. And no matter how much I despise a newspaper and the culture it represents I'm not going to to celebrate its closure. Even under these circumstances.

I love that this generation's meme-equivalent of Yakety Sax is clips of a Hitler movie.

I admire the shit out of John Cheese over at Cracked. His columns about parenting, giving up drinking and smoking, and dealing with all the shitty baggage from his youth, are outstanding in particular. This week he takes a swing at militant pot advocates, his best point being that most of them aren't honest enough to admit they love getting high and would like to do it without getting arrested.

[edit] I'm in favour of legalisation myself, and I would like to be able to smoke pot without getting pinched for it.

[edit 2] Don't hijack the thread with a pot debate. Start a thread in London Zoo and hope the mods don't think it's boring and delete it.

Yeah, but... his arguments are awful, for the most part...

@doc - yeah, I don't think he has it all right, but I get why he's pissed.

Pop History #23. Cool World (1992)

Cool World is what happens when Ralph Bakshi throws his writers and animators five pounds of awesome pot and tells them to make him an insane version of Who Framed Roger Rabbit. It features Brad Pitt and Gabriel Byrne wearing What-The-Fuck-Am-I-Doing-In-This-Film expressions on their faces for an hour and a half, the excruciating 'acting' of Kim Basinger, and psychedelic visuals rooted in the artwork of surrealist Barry Jackson. The soundtrack has music by Ministry, David Bowie, The Cult, Brian Eno and Moby, and voice work by Maurice LaMarche.

In case you need a reminder that the Japanese brand of crazy is the best brand of crazy, I bring you... RoboGeisha.

According to Kotaku, the director started out in scat porn.

One should always celebrate when evil loses.
